How to Identify Fake Medicines in India

1. Always Check the Packaging
This is the first thing I look at. Genuine medicines always have neat and properly sealed packaging. If you notice spelling mistakes, blurry text, or anything odd, that’s a red flag.
2. Look for the Hologram or Seal
Many brands use a hologram or security seal on their boxes. If it looks tampered with or missing, I wouldn’t trust it.
3. Inspect the Medicine
I always check the medicine itself. If you’ve used the same brand before, compare its color, shape, or even the smell. Fake medicines might crumble, feel weird, or look uneven.
4. Use the QR Code or Code Verification
Some medicines come with QR codes or authentication numbers. Just scan the code or follow the instructions on the pack to verify if it’s genuine. This is a game-changer if you’re unsure.
5. Buy from Reputable Pharmacies
I can’t stress this enough—only buy from trusted pharmacies or online platforms you know are legit. Avoid random shops or websites offering crazy discounts. It’s not worth the risk.
6. Be Alert to Side Effects
If the medicine feels off or isn’t working as it should, stop taking it immediately. It could be fake, and in that case, consult a doctor.
7. Report Suspected Fakes
If you ever come across something suspicious, report it to your local drug inspector or the CDSCO. Trust me, you might save someone else from harm by doing so.
Fake Medicines Can be ineffective , contain the wrong ingredients, lesser potent ingredients or even the harmful substances, which posses a serious risk to public health
Fake Medicines Can be So dangerous for our health , deal with it sincerely and carefully. Let us know if anyone has faced this fake medicines issue
( Note : First time I am posting this , if I posted this in wrong section kindly guide )

you should be wary about consequences of information being passed .
Thank You.
They will be sold for less cost, say at 10-20% of the cost others market them
Not sure if medicines, being sold on heavy discount as generic medicine, are original or duplicate or effective.
I presume Brands like davaindia , zeelabs are genuine.
