You have to visit nearest branch and surrender debit card and cheque book if any along with written request

Only opening online is easy, to close offline only.

Or in some banks you can send closure letter, closure form, cheque book, and debit card cut into 4 pieces via post to the branch. Make sure you empty the balance, block/turn off the atm card, block the cheque before sending post...

Ask idfc has this facility available...

Charges check their website. If above 1 year no charges, in between 14 days to 1 year most of banks charges ...
