Open a savings max hdfc account with 25k balance (if you are using regular savings 10k account currently), both will be linked to same customer id. since you are a preferred customer no balance need to maintain in it, you will get free platinum card with it. This way you can keep 2 dc. Also, your millennia is free now, Debit card charges are not applicable to Preferred customers.

He's already preferred customer now, so platinum/millennia dc is already free, he can switch if needed from NetBanking,..

Keep any one, both will be free, only one card can remain active.
To apply for plat go to cards and then upgrade debit card then select platinum
