I don’t understand what’s the problem if we have political threads in the forum when we have all other non-shopping issues being disucussed in Dost and dimes. I saw the same kind furore for Barood’s posts also earlier (I accept there had been bandwidth problem with those images, but it does not mean that he should be stopped from posting). Freedom of expression is everyone’s right and as Dost&Dimes was specifically for all non-shopping discussions and this should not be questioned.

I think it was a mistake in the first place to conduct a poll for this issue which involves right to freedom of expression.

I think many are mistaking political threads as only DAN’s posts. It can be any thread and I encourage all supporters of other political parties to create threads and post their views against all politicians (as it’s a fact that all politicians are corrupt and biased in one way or the other and it’s the right of the citizens to expose that). Only thing needed here is that no individual abuses against dimers are tolerated (as dimers are not those politicians), it’s ok if there is opposition towards a party or politician as it’s our right.

During the last elections I have seen many threads, which really needed to be moderated, but nothing was done at that time. Please remember that it was a time when paid posters invaded DD not to post for dimers, but to get the advantage of the popular ranking of DD so that these threads can be accessed in search results with high preference. When nothing was done at that time, its not even an issue now when such paid posters have all gone. If anyone really supports, defends or opposes a party, politician or any political activity with a whole heart, then they can have their say here. Political threads just don’t mean posts of a single person or party. It would be great if others interested in such issues also post here. My individual liking in this forum is towards people who are passionate about posting something out of their passion or interest be it anyway but without hurting the individual sentiments of others.

If someone doesn’t want to read these threads, they can just ignore. I don’t understand what’s the problem if they exist. I think the problem is only for the politicians or party persons, who again need to spend money to hire people to oppose those views.

A most important thing I want everyone to notice – there are thousands or even lakhs of users on DD. But those who voted are only around a 100. It shows that others don’t care whether these threads exist or not. If atleast the voting had gone to a few thousands, then it would have represented something. But with just 100 votes, out of which many can be fake, it does not represent interest for any option. Also something fishy, when there is just one more vote for option 1 than 2 and 3 combined.

It’s the admins decision that is final – if they still allow political threads, I request those posters not to post any individual abuses against any dimers or supporters. It includes both the original posters and those opposing or supporting those views. We as a community need some maturity to accept any general views one way or the other, but not abuses or sarcasm over oneself.
I do not support any individual party or politician – in fact my opinion of them has always been that every politician and party, (irrespective of whatever it claims) is bad. Others may have different opinions, but no two persons in this world have the same opinion and we should accept that with maturity.

You seem to be forgetting that the vote count becomes visible only after actually voting. Although your statement about the “herd mentality” is correct, it does not apply here because people didn’t even know the votes for each option or the winning option before actually voting.

It’s a different matter that some intelligent users could have “inferred” the outcome by looking at the posts of the sore users who kept crying foul because the results didn’t go in the favor of their opinions from the get go.

I think you didn’t get my point. I never supported individual abuses and am repeatedly telling that they shouldn’t be entertained. But political threads which have posts about a party, politician or political activity can be allowed as it concerns the matters of our country. Asking to trash them is just like saying ban all the news papers or channels as they write political matters that you don’t like. If someone’s not interested, they can just ignore. If there is problem with such posts showing in recent posts, then I think admins can get done from coders that they don’t show up. But it’s not right to say no to political threads.

When you are pointing out about something then you must have a strong reason for your statement. Just by saying about 250000 votes but you are not giving strong evidence against it. And your constent saying that EC is under control of GOI is totally wrong and you are highly misguided about EC. EC is an independent body and it has nothing to do with GOI.
And one more thing India is a country where people have even problems with wearing clothes and silly silly things and the file PIL in Courts. Then why nobody has filed a PIL in court. Even Mr. Kejriwal can file a complaint with EC and Court.
Don’t go on imposing baseless accusations on anybody without proof.

1. If 250000 were fake votes in varanasi, then prove it. don’t jabber in thin air. Even during this delhi election, AAP had told EC that EVMs are tampered by BJP. but you can see who won with clear majority. Now, should I blame that EVMs were tampered by AAP?
