My Friend Living Legend @RowdyAK47 Has 200+ Cards 😁
Using them and tracking their payments is a nightmare (even if you setup it's auto debit) IMO.
Just have one or two cards which serve most of your purchase needs is ideal IMO.
I never intended to keep so many cards with me and you can clearly see some of them are unnecessary but even if it serves me the purpose once in a year, I'll keep it (maybe later on I'll close most of them but for now, I'm choosing to keep them).
For managing, yes, it does takes some time but not everyday, I've all the credit card statement generation date between 15th to 20th and if I've to pay the bills in current month, I sit for a while and clear the bills on second last day of the month or on the first of next month if I've to clear the bills in the next month.
Keeping one or two cards will never be sufficient, please mark my words ... there's no 1/2 super card which covers everything. One needs to keep at least 3-5 cards to cover majority areas, that will always be the case.
For example, even if you want to keep one card from Visa, one from RuPay, it's already 2 cards, now you would want to have one card each from 2-3 major banks at least, so, my point is, those who know a thing or two about credit cards, will never be able to restrict themselves within the limit of 3 cards or lesser no matter how efficient or credit card geek he/she is. Period.
UPDATE
I just sent an email to Axis to close my ACE credit card. Additionally, I have initiated the process to close my HDFC Millennia and HDFC Pixel Play credit cards.
Reason: Axis ACE and HDFC Millennia have charges, while I already have the SBI Cashback Credit Card, making it more manageable.
I understand that you are getting rid of chargeable cards..
But u should have kept HDFC millennia cc for instant discounts..
It's 180/yr if you don't meet the fee waiver condition...
