"A man who police said was “in a hurry to deliver a cake for his friend’s birthday” allegedly drove a BMW car into a scooter, killing two young women, in Indore on Saturday night.
The man was allegedly speeding and driving in the wrong direction at around 11.30 pm Saturday when the crash happened in the Khajrana area, after which he fled the scene with his car, police said Sunday. He was later arrested.
The women who died in the incident were Lakshmi Tomar (24) and Diksha Jadon (25), who were returning home on the scooter after attending the Khajrana Ganesh temple fair, police said.
ACP Kundan Mandloi told The Indian Express that Lakshmi was from Shivpuri and that her father had died last year. “She had been supporting her family by working in Indore. After receiving news of the accident, her entire family has left for Indore,” he said.

So far authorities acted quickly. However accused belongs to influential family and may get through this without much problems. We will see.
Upon receiving information, the police team immediately reached the spot and arrested the BMW driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh (28), who hails from Madhav Nagar, Gwalior, and currently lives in Suncity, Indore. The accused was married six months ago, however, he left his wife two months back. Gurjar's father is a contractor, and his brother-in-law is an ADM. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and he has been sent to jail.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was in a hurry to deliver a cake for his friend’s birthday, which is why he drove in the wrong direction.
By the way, we should focus on the accused and the crime instead of sensationalizing it by calling out 'type' of car he was driving etc.
