I recently applied for Salary account via hdfc portal and Its all active.

I even got HDFC platinum debit card which gives 1% cashback for credit card payment (Main reason to get HDFC account).

The MAB Required is shown as 0 on the account summary page and I have no idea about the debit card fee but I think its NIL debit card fee as part of salary account.

However, checking further on HDFC portal. My account type is shown as "Saving".

I recently got a call from RM:

He shared a pdf about preferred banking onboarding and says I am eligible for preferred banking.

My question is what changes on preferred banking ? Is it worth upgrading from my current account type to preferred banking ? Considering I am quite happy with Platinum debit card which I already have ?

The PDF which he shared shows following :

1. A salary account is also a kind of savings account with zero MAB.

2. No as such benefit in preferred/classic banking if you're having salary account (no loss as well).

Further you can see this for more clarity: https://www.hdfcbank.com/personal/save/high-net...

Get the upgrade, no harm.

I'd say upgrade it.

Upgrade but understand RM can't do certain things like picking up the cheque, etc. from the office if it's a Salary account. Rest all close to useless if you've already a Salary account.

Upgrade or not, very little difference.

Some benefits like discount on lockers etc if they are useful to you. Can include your family hdfc accounts and make them preferred.

No harm in upgrading as well. Except If
you upgrade, you will start getting calls from rm up-selling you policies etc

Actually if you clearly stated  your intention is not into policy or insurance the RM will stop calling you

Thats what happened for me with my classic account

Noticed HDFC kinda understands its customers view point
