only option is to find/get the MCC of the college and see if comes under Govt Services and if it does then no point in checking with HDFC

I had paid fee for NIT college using MILLENNIA credit card of Rs 24k,when statement was generated for August the cashback points(1%) were not credited,I contacted customer care they said the transaction is of govt services and no cash points will be given,and you can escalate to next level
On escalation,I received the reply today that the merchant (nit college) is registered in govt services category and cash points won't be given.
Please suggest what to do next.

MCC aka Merchant Categorisation Codes determine the merchant. NIT was using Government MCC. MCC are determined by the network NOT the BANK. Hence, no rewards.

Earlier I paid fee for josaa I got the cashback,but this time it was college fee,there should be a way to determine which category the merchant is registered before payment so we can use the payment source accordingly.
