@playdime At least they get to know the policy of the lender bank. If they r not satisfied with the policy they can change the lending bank anytime.

Whichever bank it is same kind of policies more or less. In pvt. Banks they speak charmingly and PSU they speak with liitle attitude ( not all, but most) thats the difference. Banks are for profit and not for customer service anymore

This is how banks makes money and grow big , they have control over regulator and system

This is a rare case ... opt  PSU banks for big loans

I think these charges are intimated to customer before taking loan. It must be mentioned in the loan documents.

Then how you got refund. ?

I don't think anyone read the documents. They just blindly sign. They don't even read their sanction letter. I was a banker, I had asked customers to go through all the documents but hardly anyone read. They are only concerned about interest rate and EMI.

I had balance transferred a personal loan from HDFC to ICICI. The staff told that there is no foreclosure charges after one year, but however, after submitting the DD to HDFC for closure they charged me more than 1 lakh as foreclosure fee. When approached the staff who said there is no foreclosure he said that he thought that it was home loan. i raised a complaint with bank and then with RBI ombudsman, both of them rejected it stating that I signed the terms and conditions while availing the loan. If i had the proof by recording his conversation i might have got the foreclosure charges. once RBI ombudsman rejects you cant go for an appeal.
