especially in most two and half world countries like ours.

cancer, AIDS, premature ejaculation, loss of libido, “dhan varsha” , celebrity success, phoren travel – isn’t fixing it all possible by doing jap-tap and giving our hard earned money to all these so called ascetics. (besides sacrificing women or lambs/goats on their command or supplying those to their harems)

I had the same reaction, though for milder reasons: with respect to lard and rennet .
Only in India we are more used to hydrogenated palm oil [HLL’s Dalda, Wipro’s Oomada ] for cooking.

Otherwise the cheapest fat comes from Pigs.
Easy to rear, breed fast, eat _ _ _ _ and have lots of fat percentage.

As a person who remained vegetarian by choice, when the controversy erupted after McD’s entry in India;
it was sad to know that most Western world uses lard in a very routine manner and its not even offensive, but more like butter for them

Whereas for me even taking homoeopathic medicine seemed tough, as it meant I was ingesting derivatives from animals.

Rennet, same thing. Now a days of-course the enzyme is cured in labs, after taking from bovine sources.

I have some relatives who still avoid ice-cream or cheese from commercial establishments!
[gelatin is mostly derived off the bones of dead and/or murdered livestock: can not dispute that theory]
