I think it will refund to original payment.. If account is different then that will add to the beneficiary if that account belongs to that branch

Nothing would happen.
The transaction won’t be processed and your money won’t be debited i guess.

If A/C is in ABC bank XYZ branch and IFSC is of ABC bank but WUV branch then no issue transaction will be processed.
But if A/C is in ABC bank and IFSC is of DEF bank then money will get refunded. If not contact your branch, it will be most probably in suspense a/c of branch.

If it’s a valid IFSC and of same bank (branch doesn’t matter) it will be credited to beneficiary account

If not visit and collect ur form from branch on next working days
Bank will not address if u have written wrong IFSC which doesn’t exist

Huh? If the account number is right and ifsc is wrong then how come you were able to go on with the neft? Doesn’t ifsc change from branch to branch?

It does but can also work if it’s of another branch

IFSC was used earlier where routing was done using the IFSC to identify the branch code, since Electronic transfers were still in their nascent stages, I don't think it should matter in newer cases, even if the IFSC is different (But of the same Bank) then it should route through.

The transaction would be successful if IFSC code given by you is correct for any branch of that Bank. Last five digits of IFSC code represent branch code. Thease five digits should be code number of any branch of that Bank. While transferring fund from one Bank to another Bank,  system of NPCI just recognise Bank code based on first six digits and thereafter the amount will be credited in given account number of the customer.
