Fridge was running fine, but all of a sudden it has stopped running. Light is on inside, but the compressor makes no sound and has stopped working. What should I do in this case? Is there a quick fix?
More details: Its an LG Double door fridge that's exactly 10 years and 3 weeks old. So, no warranty for compressor anymore.

There was huge power fluctuations today along with heavy rain. Idk what happened but the fridge has started working again after 6 hours by itself. Should I be worried for the future though?
And happy deepavali to you too!

I do not know what happened.. but for now.. after 6 hours.. the fridge has started working again, all by itself.

So kindly take note.
Since I wanted to know the exact compressor (LG part number) and the likely refrigerant used,
I was about to ask that.
But then saw your reply that for now it is on-line again.
Season's greetings to you too.
Yes, it could be that sone internal cut-off shielded the main parts from a surge or stopped due to low voltage (if power quality was really that bad).
But it could also be something else.
If since 2013-2014, there was never any major issue or repair performed on your refrigerator unit, then it 'might' be okay to not immediately get it checked by a responsible, qualified and well-versed service person, technician.
But thousand - five hundred rupees would not be bigger than 'peace of mind'.
Thusly, can you check the phone numbers (if any) that you might have saved.. of the technicians in past 4-5 years.
Does not matter if the person has now switched to attending calls of Samsung or has left the field.
But one can at-least get some opinion from them.
Not sure whether at your location, LG has their own employees too.. or .. only third-party (vendor) operated service centre.
But either officially from LG setvice rewuest or unofficially by contact a technician who is known, trustworthy.. even a physical check up of the unit too would not cost too much, to begin with.
Mostly it could be poor energy quality which rendered the heat exchanger dysfunctional
or
somehow the LG deciding that it was better to save core components by taking them off-line, till things improve.

The number is: GL-B252VMGY
There were zero issues for the last 10 yrs except for replacement of freezer gasket last month. (I live in the city and all brands have service here). The LG repairman told me new gasket was unnecessary, but I insisted on him replacing it. I did call the repair guy yesterday before posting, but since its holidays for festival and state celebrations, the guy did not pick up.
The thing is this hadn't happened anytime before now. Or maybe we hadn't noticed and this is a protection feature as well.
