In long distance travels, I usually face issue of food. We always try to carry home made food/tea etc but it's not possible always. The food provided on board by pantry car is pathetic.
Recently I tried Zomato but the food got cold (thanks to train delay).
I tried to use swiggy but it was asking for address strangely despite entering PNR+Seat NO. So I did not order.
How do you guys deal with the issue of food while travelling in trains?

With the help of NTES app for tracking the train, I booked food for my friend few times but that's possible only in major stations as the halt time is more there to take delivery at the entry or exit of that station

Meanwhile i try to avoid even the in-flight complimentary meal service, breakfast service.

Sadly, salmonella no longer feels like the worst risk.. given all the range of nuisances that happen with the food on board flights, trains.

Everything is privatised and the pantry food and the meals that are shoved into the train at specific stations are all in the hands of contractors.
(Not that things would have been way different if railways did everything themselves.. but contractors have ZERO accountability.)

Train journeys are always awkward for me and I do not even recollect how long it has been since i took one of more than 8½-9 hours.. that too .. most of it during night.

On trains i prefer to be NBM (nil by mouth) like before a surgery.
Water or fluids could mean I have to leave the handbag or take it to the toilet.

Unless in a hurry.. I can always arrange at-least a chapati or two.. prior to departure.
I just roll it into a 'pungi' with some nimbu achar or something similar and have it wrapped in a foil.

Convenient to unwrap and eat.. even if hands are not super clean.

Else small snack packets like Haldiram's, Bikaji.

But again, usually i prefer NOT to eat in long distance travel.. be it flight or train.

Bananas are convenient.

And now-a-days even at home.. I often dark chocolates or muesli..
so.. bitter/ high cocoa chocolates or bananas often suffice.

Never buy from boys not in irctc dress. They are fraud. Gave me rotten food thali in 200. I was told they give bribe to TTE to enter the trains.
