AAP founding member revolts, says party has CIA links
Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay, a member of the AAP National Council, suspects his party — or its leadership at least — has connections with the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Upadhyay is addressing a Press conference at 2 pm at the Press Club of India on Wednesday. Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was briefly detained here by the district police and asked to show permissions for the road show, since the election code of conduct came in to effect Wednesday afternoon.
Kejriwal had spoken to a group of local residents outside the Gayatri Shaktipith area here, an area represented by BJP MLA Shankar Chaudhary.
As his convoy moved ahead accompanied by a police vehicle, a group of people stood waving black flags and banners saying ‘Narmada virodhi Kejriwal, paachha jaao’ (anti-Narmada Kejriwal, go back) and shouted ‘Narendra Modi zindabad’. Soon after this, Kejriwal was taken to the police station for some 30 minutes and asked how he was conducting public meetings without permission.
Patan district SP Parikshita Rathod told this paper, “He was asked if he had the necessary permissions for the road show since the model code of conduct is in effect now. He said he was not aware, so he was let go. There was no detention or arrest”.
Kejriwal, who is on a ‘study tour’ of Gujarat, proceeded to Kutch from here.
Kejriwal was accompanied by other AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh. As they arrived in Gujarat, they were welcomed by a large number of AAP members, who were seen carrying brooms (party symbol) and shouting slogans ‘Sheila Dikshit hari hai, ab Modi ki bari hai’ (Sheila Dikshit has lost, now it’s Modi’s turn).
