Fan runs too slow even at 4 speed

Budhe-Baba

My ceiling fan is 10 years old. It runs like a 2 even at 4 speed. Only at 5 speed, it runs at high speed.

I think this is capacitor issue. Does it make sense to get a new capacitor or get a new fan, or any other solution?

At 5 It Runs At High Speed Then Its Regulator Problem. If Its Capacitor Problem Fan Won't Run Maximum High Speed At 5 , Happened This Problem With Havells Fan.

Things to try, from top option to bottom:

1) Change capacitor

2) Change Regular

3) Get fan serviced,

It could be get the fan ball bearing issue, dried grease. Need Greased / Lubricated the fan internal.

===================
Maybe it's just time to consider buying a BLDC fan now.

BLDC fans are lot more energy efficient.  50% or more

Whole cost of new fan can be recovered in next few years in electric bill saving.

BLDC Fans  run lot cool, gives cool air. That's especially  important in summer

Because Normal ( Induction motor)  fans waste lots of  electrical energy as heat. ( compared to BLDC)

" 2. BLDC motor has a longer life span as they do not get heated because of the magnetic fields around the fan, not in the center of the fan. A standard fan gets overheated."

Also: fan does not work on 1 speed. Only on 2 onwards. But If i switch on at 2 and then turn knowb to 1, then it works on 1 speed also.

capacitor or regulator

Deal Major Deal Major

So do I need to change both 1 by 1 OR can electrician tell where the issue is, before changing the capacitor/regulator? Trying to avoid double spend.

N my fan runs too faster...if I run it on No. 3, it feels like it will fall anytime because of fast speed. Not even tried no. 4 and 5. Changed fan, regulator also but no luck

Absolutely regulator issue, now a days small regulators fixed on the switchboard gives this problem and I also don't know how it affects fan motor. The bigger ones which were provided with the fan earlier were more reliable than this puny regulator.

Use a rotary freely movable non numbered board regulator instead just like gas Knob.

Just saying, I am feeling sleepy.

Regulator issue kaise ho sakta hai.. jab se naya ghar bana hai tab se hi issue hai.. Havells kq fan hai.. regulator to anchor kq hai..ya to ye aisa hi chqltq hqi ya i need compatible regulator for havels

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

I also have the same havells fan and anchor regulator combination and it has the same effect but they behave normal with luminous and Usha high speed fans. I don't know why.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

confusion hai regulator ya capacitor

simple formula hai fan on karke ek baar blade ko rokne ka try karna hai fan ruk gaya to capacitor change karlena and nahi to regulator 😅

fir bhi nahi thik hua to electrician ko bulana parega

Deal Major Deal Major

Bhai, 5 pe pankha chala ke rokne ka try karunga to hath hi kat jayega !
To mein 2 pe chala ke dekhta hu. Also 1 pe to chalta hai nahi hai fan, 2 onwards hi chalta hai.

First change capacitor which is Rs.30 or Rs.40 cheap component, but regulator is costlier than that I think

so go with capacitor first and if it dont give result next go with regulator:)

better to avoid this cost is take a capacitor from another working fan and put it in this faulty fan and check if it works then buy a new capacitor to replace:) if not buy a regulator smile

I think it's regulator problem. Same problem with the fan in my mom's bedroom after electrician checked and changed regulator, it is working well.

If fan runs in full speed at 5 then no issue with capacitor. You have to change the regulator
