No it doesn't. It's in the name CREDIT score. It depends only on how much you borrow and how you pay it back.

It should but doesn’t. For self employed folks, banks should look at things like property, bank balance etc as well in addition to credit score. Like say we have a person who is earning 30k per month in a job. He or she will get most credit cards easily except the premium ones. Now we have another person who is self employed. Good credit score but no company name. Good ITR. Owns many properties worth say 20 crores. Keeps crores in banks including FDs and stocks. Who is a lesser risk? Many banks will refuse a credit card to this self employed person but approve the one with 30k per month salary. In such situations, having a certain amount in a bank should count for something.
