Be patient. I talked with few delivery guys from Myntra, Flipkart and Amazon.

They said that they are too overloaded right now. They are going for their jobs at 6-7am in the morning and there are hell lot of deliveries because of sale.

Same here but got delivered next day. Due to Navrathri pooja there were less staff and infact less vehicles on 12/13 due to Ayudhpooja... So all logistics are affected

Thanks to such thinking (be patient, let go/chalta hai, smile and bear with it) we are still in the same bottomless pit, while even neighbouring countries or others which got independent around the same time as us.. have taken long strides ahead in so many fields.)

What excuses are these?
If my mother or father are on the operation table, will i excuse the doctor if they are tired and do something wrong?

When movie goers or customers complain about a genuine concern.. everyone comes at them like a pack of wolves.. if you don't like then don't watch, if price is not right then do not buy.. WHO IS FORCING you to buy.

Where are these same excuse making junta.. when it is time to question administrations, authorities or these online portals?

Why do not these excuse makers go and say: nobody forced you to sell, nobody forced you to promise xyz delivery timelines.

Unless you are a paid PR executive for Walmart, Amazon.. why should it make sense for a buyer to 'be patient' about the under-staffing at Walmart India, Amazon India, Reliance-Facebook mart?

Are we sitting here to enrich the shareholders and investors of Walmart, Amazon?

Then if that is allowed, then why cry about poor roads? Simply keep paying all direct and indirect taxes and then use the 'be patient' line.

I am disgusted at this!

If item below 500 and not urgent, wait.

If its electronic gadgets pls call customer care and they will arrange delivery. Less staff, delayed delivery and now all in the entire logistics chain is 3rd party.

If you are not prime expect least preferences in delivery.

Surprisingly for us, Jabong (and later Flipkart) had (maybe still have) a tighter grip on logistics than Amazon India ever did (except in the initial days when Amazon India relied a lot on FedEx and our shipping address was in a larger city).

Thankfully we no longer use either Flipkart or Amazon as much and do not even regularly shop on-line.

But yes, if the logistics partner is ATS (Amazon Transportation Services) then this is a regular thing.

About what can be done?
Answer is nothing much really.

ATS merely carries the name Amazon, but otherwise Amazon operates like an alien entity.

Their left hand does not know what their right hand does.

If the delay is at the warehouse end, then often the customer care do not even know which form to fill.

So what the system does, is to provide the 'despatch by' date and the assigned warehouse details.
This should be and IS visible on the transport details tab of the orders, even to a new hire in the customer care department.

So if they open the tab and realise that the scheduled timelines for despatch itself are overdue, then they are supposed to select the correct option from the drop-down menu, so that the issue/form/ e-mail is raised to the right team at the right warehouse.

If there are in-transit issues, then the Shipping and Delivery Support (SDS) team or the usual customer care agent has to press the station or raise the query if wrongly routed to different hub.

But the issue is, that today even BSNL isn't outsourcing as much core operations as Amazon does.

Just like their call centers (which are run by third party vendors), even their warehouse hiring is left up to the vendors.

Same with ATS, almost all people are either vendors or only contractual agents.

Nothing can be done.

Warehouses have targets to despatch N-thousand packets daily and local hubs of ATS have daily targets for 'out for delivery' of 5000-8000 or more.. depending on the city size.

All these places have one person on a computer or mobile, just to 'close' all such tickets (issues raised by customers) with random reasons.

I am not even praising Ekart or Flipkart, but in our limited experience with them, the items arrive in the city of delivery.. at-least 48 hours prior to the promised delivery date.. in case on non express deliveries and in case of one day, two day delivery.. they usually have the item in stock.. in a warehouse within 250-300 kilometres.

Amazon.. almost randomly assigns warehouses.

And even then, instead of a point-to-point model,
they rely on a hub and spoke model.

Like literally they can send the item directly to the final smaller city destination.
But no, they first take the complete bag/truck to a Delhi Jaipur Bombay Kolkata Hyderabad Lucknow and then again do the sorting.

You can at-most cry on the shoulders of the customer care or write to SDS (shipping delivery support).

Amazon also plays a very dirty game.
At the time of booking the order, they will confi the guaranteed delivery date as something, but then retrospectively change all entries in their system.. with an entirely different date.😠😠😡

The pigeons sitting in escalation too do not realise the fraud and deny resolution as per procedures.

In such cases, the order confirmation e-mail/message https://www.amazon.in/gp/message?ref_=ya_d_l_msg_center#!/inbox is the easiet evidence which a customer has.
If it is a prime account, and the guaranteed delivery date (GDD) of a tracking ID is lapsed, then internationally and in India too.. the official remedy/resolution is to increase the prime benefits by 30 days.
(I am talking of the full prime product.)

And if one was charged ANYTHING for a delivery and the last date of the EDD (estimated delivery date) or the guaranteed delivery date are gone.. then even if the item is yet to be delivered.. FIRST THING which they have to do (as per Amazon standard operating procedures) is to refund all the shipping charges IMMEDIATELY.
(Later, if item is returned, refunded.. then they can adjust the shipping charges in the refund, but if EDD, GDD are lapsed by even a minute.. and the customer reaches out even at midnight, first they have to initiate the refund of shipping charges.)

I usually deny the alms they throw at me. But yes, primary agents can give 'bheek' of ₹100 and super escalation can usually offer the 'token of apology' (भीख) of upto ₹500, irrespective of the issue.
