Also which bank FD CC is available since his acs are in Kotak Indian PNB and SBI banks
Since he already has bank accounts try applying using the bank accounts
1) SBI (maybe possible without income proofs)
2) Kotak (kotak gives credit cards easily but sadly not sure now after their fiasco on online issuing)
3) Indian (will ask income proofs mandatory i think)
4) PNB (will ask income proofs mandatory i think)
in the above order
they might have something preapproved things inside (try it)
Credits on his progress card are the one he should be looking for. No cards please, his entire student life go into arindam bhaja govindam
since there is guardian/guidance this issue wont happen easily, its a good step now to learn credit using this guardian protection (as OP's nephew is the one who is under the guidance of OP -> my assumption)
Give him add-on card, or try FD cards (secured).
Otherwise start with some pay later service, and build credit history (time consuming method).
I think FD option is better... trying for PNB
Super.money app by Flipkart
They provide FD based credit card
Starting from 100
