This same is aimed at empowering employees to make decisions more efficiently, cutting through the red tape.
Mister Jassy introduced a new "bureaucracy tipline," where employees can report unnecessary procedures.
This letter to its employees.. talks of other things too.
On the point of 'working from the office'
Amazon said it WILL make exceptions to this policy for extenuating circumstances (like caring for the sick family member or when one has to take care of young children).
Amazon is also going to consider relaxing the 5 days a week in office rule.. for roles that were already approved for remote work.
But earlier, those who had tried to organise/lead a protest about such policies.. were actually relieved (fired) by Amazon!
This trend (of corporates now preferring employees to come to office) is seen across different industries.
In North America, the likes of UPS, Dell and other big corporations too are pushing ahead with 'return to office' policies.
Of-course there might be existing positions (as already highlighted in the letter/blog) which are explicitly oriented towards work from home or where remote work has been approved and those might continue, as is.
For example: the virtual customer service (VCS) position ls https://archive.is/9m1hl
VCS D.A.R.T and TRMS .. risk investigation team work https://archive.is/kBYU8.
Even the acquaintances within Pakistan whom I checked with.. said that they would be working as usual with seller support or other on-boarding teams for N.A. (North American sites).
Although there is hardly any direct hiring by ADC in Pakistan.
Most of it is via third party vendors.
Would be good to know what others here think about the post Covid-19 times and corporates requiring more and more in-office presence.

for Amazon, it is VERY important (mahatv'poorn) that their employees get their peach🍑.. back to the office chair/singhaasan/cabin (as the case may be).
─ Andrew R. Jassy, CEO of Amazon Inc.As part of the restructuring, by March 2025, Amazon is aiming to increase the ratio of individual contributors to managers by 15% within each major division. This same is aimed at empowering employees to make decisions more efficiently, cutting through the red tape.

You may disagree but, WFO, with all those quick face to face interactions with various cross functional teams/team members, stakeholders, seniors and juniors alike, will help you build your self for the next role.
WFO is nothing but getting work done. period. Nothing less, nothing more!!

Almost All IT companies started work from office .
If there are any work from home offer letters issued during covid could be forced to come to office/ such roles would be terminated as it will not be norm.
