unfortunately still 3G in my area (suburbs of Chennai) when checked with BSNL office last week

If this time they don't try to overcome, then it definitely loose consumers in multiple foods.
I agree. Who ever has BSNL at minister level, I think its under Jyotiraditya Scindia during this term, has a ton of work to do.
I did see improvements in most of the services managed by GOI, the only exception is BSNL. This shit got to be fixed.
Note: I'm using BSNL post paid services for decades now.
No BSNL 4G in a city like Pune 😄
BSNL 4G service will be available within 6 months in your area.....and I've been hearing this since 2021
Now for the past month even their 3G speeds have gone down by half even since Jio/Airtel price rise.
There's just a 25-30% tower setup right now (even that is wip) for BSNL 4G. Coverage will Increase progressively till March.
Only BSNL can steal Jio and Airtel's thunder, have some patience, they are a hedge against unchecked fare hikes.
Besides no point crying over 5G, noone has any real use for 5G right now. BSNL will also not have 5G atleast within 2024 for certain.
Translation: BSNL already had 4G services before the government scrapped even the tender Huawei etcetera already won, for supply of the equipment. This was pre-Covid19. (BSNL users getting to use 4G.. when in certain rural areas, they directly migrated the 2G only cell-sites to 4G sites.. instead of bouncing to 3G.. like in urban areas.)
This/such title reminds one of Mimoh Chakraborty (son of Mithun Chakraborty).
Mimoh was always shown as 'launched' in a film. The film will be forgotten even before release and would not even get audiences in the first week. Then after few years there would be another film.. which would again claim to 'launch' Mimoh. And the cycle would continue.

Many devices launched in the last 2-3 years don't support LTE B28 (700MHz) which will be majorly used by BSNL. It does have spectrum (only 5MHz though) in 2100 and 2500MHz bands (in all the states) supported by most devices but so far the former is in use in very few states only. Worldover B28 use is restricted to only a handful of countries mainly in the EU and SAm.
For future proofing, better to buy compatible devices. If the govt opened this band for one telco, who knows they may open for others also.
