I'll be heading to Dubai soon via Emirates. Can you provide guidance on bringing a TV back to India? What's the process and what about duty charges?

Any insights from someone who has done this before?

Days of bringing cheap TVs from Dubai long gone, will have to pay 33% customs duty on any TV brought from abroad now.

if you are bringing new: Avoid

if you are bringing old after staying there for some years: Just resell.

rest above comments will help in buying decision making.

you have to pay handling charges to air line (weight of product is countable in your luggage allowance)
and duty in india (if it is new or less than a year old )

New or old doesn't matter, TV has been excluded from list of items one can bring back from abroad claiming "personal use/personal item".

OP, do not go down this route. Warranty will be void and if something goes wrong your big TV will have to be sold for Rs 500 to the local scrap-dealer when.

TVs are pretty cheap nowadays in India up to 65" size. 55" and 43" sizes are even cheaper. You get them for 1-3 yrs warranty and if you have the budget you can buy extended warranty from Croma, Reliance Digital.

I think tv less than 39" is free of duty. You have to pay airline charges (check with airline)
