Recently I ordered a smartwatch from Flipkart which was Dead on Arrival. I placed a return/replacement request with proofs and the return pickup was scheduled by flipkart. A Guy came to pickup and we handed over the item to him he clicked the pictures of the return item in front of us and took it saying the replacement item will be delivered in 3-4 days.
The next day, to our surprise, Another guy came asking for the return pickup. To which, we said the item was already picked up yesterday. The pickup guy said no sir, the return pickup was assigned to me along with your replacement item. I contacted customer care and they said we have not received any return item from your side and hence the replacement item will not be handed over to you. I even argued with the customer care as to why is there no sms code validation system for return pickup?
I am clueless and shocked with such a scam by flipkart / delivery guys!
Please be alert while you handover any return items to pickup guys and make sure they give you some sort of acknowledgement etc.

On amazon return pick up used to be done before then replacement came after 2-3 days. Now a days never had to replace or return
I too was kind of scammed this way but it was a return product not replacement.
lost about 1500.
What do you asked for? Return or replacement? And didn’t the app order page showed when the delivery person will come to pick up? Btw, its horrible!
I received sms soon after placing request saying Pickup Arranged. Please keep originally delivered order in product box and accessories, tags by 21st June and the tracking link which now shows "Return Rejected"
New fear unlocked 😣
now we have to be more caution even for return/ replacement specially with FK
By the way, this is not a 'new' scam, nor restricted to e-commerce.
One of our uncles used to tell of how his mother's (our via via grandmother's) sharpness helped save their family and helped them survive after his (uncle's) father passed away at an early age.
One specific instance (from early 1970s) is when a student type looking boy came to the grandmaa.. (uncle's mother) and said that sir (professor) has sent me to fetch these three books.. and gave the names.
Uncle had barely got lecturer post 3 months prior.
Grandmaa told the guy that she does not understand things and if your sir (my son) wants these books.. he has to himself come for them.
In the evening, my cousin uncle was asked by his mother if he had sent anyone to get three books.
He said 'no'.
11-12 years back.. for our first ever reverse pick up .. i remember taking CBI/ ED type interview of the person who came for it.
And that thing was hardly some 200-300₹ order.
Pepperfry, Snapdeal, Jabong, Fashionara, FlipK, Amazon.. none had any cross checks via otp or anything.
And still do not.
But as per caution, if sometimes i wanted to check.. i would discreetly pose as if i want to see the application/ process and
check their device/ application.. if it shows the same tracking ID.. for which our item is marked.
Two or three times even took photograph of the persons.. but only due to elders themselves asking the DA if they can take his photograph.
So, unless it was apple pineapple watch, for 1500-3000₹ you got a learning experience.
I mean the police can give minor dhishum dhishum to two three station staff and can then easily trace the person who came.
But the time, efforts, money spent for that would be equal to or more than the current loss.
Raise complain in consumer helpline portal
It's not your fault Flipkart will have to find that scammer and refund you
If you know someone in the FK warehouse of your city, then first check with them and try to figure who that person was who visited you in the first place.
Take 1-2 friends of yours, when you visit their warehouse. Try to solve this first then you'll be able to understand the scam behind this.
It may be time consuming but worth a try.
Few days ago I replaced a Tshirt from Amz , replacement guy came and just picked up the old product on enquiring he asked me to wait as new product will arrive by tomorrow 😀 , phir kya hua ?
Hona kya tha music ki maalgadi chalu kar di humne , dono tshirt de gaya 😉
Amz people also invloved in such scams.
That's it. Avoid all these ecom and use only when necessary and need else go offilne for peace of mind + outdoor activity too.
When you return an item for a replacement, a replacement will always be delivered at the same time as the faulty item is picked up. In my experience, I have never encountered a situation where the faulty item was returned first and the replacement delivered on a different day. You can also check the Flipkart app, where they clearly state that the faulty product will be examined first and the replacement will be handed to you immediately.
