I recommend Peaceful Warrior to everyone. I haven’t watched any other movie which touches on the ‘present moment awareness’ theme so subtly.
Nick Nolte is excellent with his deep eyes and voice. Perfect choice for the character.
And we have the White Collar detective as the coach.
The protagonist also did well but his name is difficult to remember.
Have you watched the movie: Waking Life? I think you should.

Oh, another:
The Man from Earth

I love Stanley as much as many of us. If u c my list, I tried to post those which can be liked by Majority. I have seen many who feel lil bored with Stanley’s movies. Like wise, there r many more that I have not mentioned but I love.

At last, something I didn’t watch yet. Will try to watch it soon. TMFE is one of my favs. Very engaging discussion. Watch “Buried”, you may like it.

Cool. Saw ‘Buried’ in a theater when it was released in the US.
@Jairaj Watched Waking Life. It just made me remember this dialogue from The Matrix Revolutions. Agent Smith says this to Neo during the climax fight…
“Why, Mr. Anderson? Why, why? Why do you do it? Why, why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you’re fighting… for something? For more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for love? Illusions, Mr. Anderson. Vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose…”
What are all those views discussed in the movie? Just vagaries of perception. This is where eastern philosophy differs fundamentally from western philosophy. (I use ‘eastern’ and ‘western’ not in terms of geography but in terms of how they address the problem of existence.) In WP, they try to answer/solve the problem of existence whereas in EP, the attention is directed towards the one who finds existence problematic. The questioner becomes more important than the question itself. Once the questioner is dealt with, the questions are not there anymore.
So, I always watch out for movies (or any other forms of art and literature in general) which are not only intellectually stimulating but also take the viewer to a place where he is made to confront himself/herself. In that way, Peaceful Warrior did a really good job. @jlnithwf suggested me two other movies when I mentioned this movie there in that “movies” thread. I didn’t take time to watch them, though. Missing him so much on DD. He was a really good person to converse with.
