One of my friends got scammed for 82000 rs after he got a call from this number which is similar to axis bank customer care number (except the plus sign) ..

They sent him a phishing link to redeem his card reward points
And he entered his card details there..🙂🥲

This transaction of 82k was done on Cheq.

OMG they used +1 860 USA 🇺🇸 series to make him think it is 1860 customer care number. Day by day scammers are coming with new ways to scam.

Why would bank call to redeem points ?

Are banks that much well wisher of customer?

If even they inform it's going to expire.

Before putting Card details he never thought ? 🤔

Banks & govt. send sms & email frequently to aware customers & tell them not to give card & OTP even if they claim from Bank.

Hardly any solution in this case because your Friend willingly gave Card Details & OTP.

..,.............period

Bhai Saab awareness post hai.

Sometimes when we're busy there is high chance that we miss fine details like a plus sign before the number, or Connecticut written below the number.

Aur kaafi baar 80 se start hone waale UP ke number ko Google dialer Bengaluru, Karnataka ka batata hai coz 080 bengaluru ka std code hai.

So Google dialer can not always be trusted.

Axis customer care is saying that you entered the otp so it is not a scam.

But by this definition no transaction is a scam transaction because no transaction can be done without entering otp or upi pin.

He has also registered an fir in cyber cell and 1930 helpline immediately.

Axis bank branch was rude but after heated debate they took his request.

I got duped of 50k few months ago. Bank didn't help me recover so went off my pocket. It really hurt. After the incident I was even considering closing all cc as scammers find new and creative ways and we are unable to keep up with their new techniques. I was busy and mind was somewhere else that's how I got distracted and was unable to Be cautious.
