There are close to dozen brands which provide all the daily grocery products.
Most Packaged product on E-com website have inflated MRPs.
- I have many a times seen this trend on ZEPTO, BLINKIT, And instamart.
- I have been a vigilant customer where i am regularly updated by changes in rate of prices of grocery items.
- Ecom-website first show inflated MRP products and then give a 30-40% discount. The customer feels that he is saving money. But not always this is the case. Even after discount the customer ends up paying more the value than the actual market cost of that particular product.
- There should be some govt regulation / audit / policy to implement measures to check and correct exuberant MRPs.
1. If you think i am right please do try and comment the product/ brand which you feel purposefully give inflated MRP.
2. What do you feel GOVT can do to address this problem "INFLATED MRP" created by manufacturers?
- Sort By
Nothing... Targeted user base prefer convenience than everything else.
If you are concerned about consumer laws exploitation, MRP, Delivery Charges etc then leave your comfort at home and go outside for grocery shopping.
1) Flipkart smart buy, amazon solimo. Effectively all in house brands. Flipkart grocery has gone one step ahead and have special agreements with brands to supply them products with higher mrp so they can show more discount. Even famous brands have inflated mrp on flipkart grocery when compared to other e-commerce portals.
On the other hand there are some brands which are currently selling on half the mrp because of market conditions making mrp irrelevant. For e.g. Most honey brands, fruit juice brands. Almost always available at 50% off.
2) No solution because no possible way of defining a suitable mrp. One way is to become like developed countries where mrp is not followed. But that's not suitable for our country due to negligible consumer awareness.
I have been a vigilant customer where i am regularly updated by changes in rate of prices of grocery items.
How do you achieve such an humongous task on a regular basis?? Any tips/tricks/hacks.....
Correct, MRP is mostly a joke. I compare selling price with local shop/vendors. If its cheap, then I buy. Like rice and atta are cheap in flipkart, milk is cheaper in instamart using swiggy gv. But egg is too costly everywhere online, so I purchase eggs from local vendors.
If its cheap, then I buy... Bahut danger hai bhaiya
Fortune 1 litre Mustard oil on Flipkart and Flipkart Grocery MRPs are Rs 379 & Rs 160 respectively.
That's Fraud seller.
Using DesiDime and still not knowing these things ?
Please do homework & come later.

Lena ho lo.. nahi to aage badho
Wow ! Read my comment. Have mentioned about this issue in reply.
Dmart, reliance etc has taken good benefits of this behaviour! Also they deserve it 100%. Nothing wrong.
Himalaya 200gm facewash comes at MRP of 250 with 50gm free facewash of MRP rs80
But online, no freebies and MRP is 299
Same in horlicks over MRP
Nycil, no free product
There is too many products
Kaliyug mein jitna bhi dimaag bacha hai 4g 5g radiation se, use istemaal kao... solution mil jayega... I order online tooo and mostly matches with local kirana incl delivery, for 80% items, rest Ibuy locally...
It's same everywhere in stores or supermarket or online.
Companies found a loophole and now they are doing this. Few brands who started this trend are unibic, mcvities, parle... Others followed them.
Now it is hard, sometimes pricing for commodities like shampoo has different mrp. I saw once that 1l having less mrp than 650ml of head & shoulders being manufacturd just one month apart. People don't have time to see all that so companies are playing with people's mind.
Foolish customers are happy with it as they get upto 95 % Discount .
Its not the brands , but online sellers who are whipping them to print Mrp or there products will not be sold by them . Say Thanks to Flipkart and Amazon to demand from brands for diluted quality and inflated Mrp for sake of showing deep discounts to its foolish customers and convenience seekers . Others sellers also followed knowing that customers are idiots and will themselves justify it as convinence
Just for Reference Rs 40 a kg Pumpkin in market , online been sold for Mrp 240 for 250 gms .
Flipkart Grocery - Fruits & Vegetables upto 90% Off
Please Visit
And the innumerous
"Smart watches" Deals for Dumb people at 90 % Discount.
You never know the Real Price if Just an Online Buyer. , And thats The Target by Fk / az / etc To Finish Retail Shops.
The Real Loot is yet to begin , these are just Trailers. .
I have bought Jamun from local vendor @ Rs. 80 for 250gm, later when tried to buy the same fruit on Zepto it was showing @ Rs. 160 for 250gm😮
They doubled the price and same tactics in Banana and other fruits, they are selling at almost double the price.
Now I have switched to packaged items only and local vendor for fruits.
Fruits and vegetables are always very expensive on e-commerce.
Not wise to buy online. And this is one thing which is same since the start.
This is happening in departmental stores also not only online. Even Dmart sells the products in discount. There is nothing wrong in it. The customer should be smart enough to know if its a bargain or not.
If i am buying anything from Swiggy or Zepto I check the same product in dmart online. That way i know how much extra i am paying.
Compare and then purchase.. Thats all we can do I guess..
Mera desh badal raha hai😄😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Is desh mein aise bhi log hai
Jo mrp aur discount ke chakkar mein 100 ke maal 500 mein le jaate hai, ye bol ke ki bahut discount mil raha hai. Are wo discount kahan se dega aur gobernent bhi ispe kahan dhyan deti hai
Let's example
Many products like horlicks, himalaya, dabur, nycil, sensodyne, maggi, are comes with freebies or additional offer in local market with MRP equal or less than Ecom and with more benifit
But people buy on eCommerce because of mrp is listed at too much high and hug discount but final amount is always more than the local market
Example horlicks 450gm available in Market at MRP 209 but on Amazon or 1mg, its 229

Horlicks Chocolate1kg is available at 279 in Amazon. Better discount in Fresh.
During Sales it is easily available at 40 to 50% discount in e commerce.
I think those who are good in maths, don't have to worry.
And as a responsible Dimmmmmer , I don't recommend to consume Horlicks.
Drink Amul milk even if it's cost has inc. by Rs2/litre.
First, use common sense ( a person should know whether a product is worth the price or not). Next, compare online and offline prices. And finally, make use of price comparison websites and price trackers before making a decision.
How can use the thing which one doesn't have ??? 🤣🤣🤣.
Other side of coin.
Customer bargains even if you say correct price. So no option as a trader/ manufacturer to me - to tell inflated price and print inflated price .
Are you ready to buy at printed mrp without bargaining and asking discount? If yes then only I can print correct price. But this not going happen for sure.
@sherlock Yes and these local kirana shop thugs try to shove random products down your throat in order to get more commission. You ask for Dettol and he will try to trick you by giving some Bandar-Chaap soap instead and telling you "sab ek jaisa hota hai, 5 Rs sasta hai".
If you ask for Amul Paneer he will try to fool you by giving local synthetic Paneer to make more profit margin. Furthermore, the majority of them coerce you into giving cash and will never provide you a bill so they can make BLACK money. 😆
E commerce had burnt lots of money and increase dependency, now they are moving towards profits, just think about the cost of Hired IT employees who earned multiple times compare to other class. Such class can afford to purchase products even at inflated price as they do prefer over time instead of money. But lower middle class, who has started buying online, definately it will be back to grocery store / super market like D Mart, etc. to save some bucks as they prefer to save money over time. Again, the class which has never started buying online, who will again avoid trying to purchase online as they already much known with the actual prices of the products. I believe this is bubble, one day it will definitely burst, Even after so many years, these companies are still running a loss.
Talking about inflated MRP by newly launched brands, which we are well aware of by watching shark tank india.
Can't government start a portal related to MRP of packaged products?
Or if there is any such official portal for it ?
These can be really handy and useful for all. Atleast all Ecom sites will then required to have same MRP of product.
But - with ONDC grocery items- (Pincode, Paytm)
user can check price of same product on many store listed.
I live in Bengaluru and always visit local wholesale store for grocery and veggies/fruits. Except for items like Paneer, all are cheaper at local store. Since I'm regular, I get fresh veg/fruits and store guy knows to make sure, I comeback every time I need any product. I rarely order nowadays...
Swiggy MRP - 130rs
Swiggy selling price - 114rs +5rs fees= 119rs
Offline store mrp - 100rs
Offline selling price- 95rs
A considerable difference of 24rs for same product.
FOR THE SAME PRODCUT:
- manufacturers are providing separate "items" for retail store ..
- and separate items for "online" store
Very good find buddy .. !

Local Wale [local vendors] are more Cheaters [majority] , most of them have huge attitude. !!!
When asked price or bargain they make faces !!n
They think that we all are Rich !!!
