Last took a Rapido bike 6 months back and recently spoke to someone who part-time (that too only on weekends) works as Rapido driver.
All of them (two-wheeler partners) said and showed some nominal amount deducted.
I am saying nominal, but it can be as high as 12-13% too, i think.
One auto driver said, that since none of the platforms are charging per ride commissions, for upto a kilometre or two type short rides.. he prefers to take Uber passengers.
The auto driver said that for shorter rides, Uber inflated the bill or the total fare in Uber is more than the others.
I not sure whether the 'no commission' or a very nominal 'fixed' amount per day.. thing is a temporary promotion by those platforms or a city specific thing or a permanent thing.
But in locationsv where e-rickshaws are common, they eat into the business of both, bike taxis and autorickshaws.
There might be exceptions like Goa, where two-wheeler taxis have existed from decades. So in such places, bikes still get business.
For two-wheelers, it will be VERY difficult to male ends meet by exclusively doing just that. Unless something like frequent parcel/Jugnoo Genie pick-ups and drops make it easier.. dealing with passengers takes too much time.
Bike fares being low as it is, one would have to put in 10 to 12 hours to get anything meaningful out of it.
(Like literally the trained masons, brick laying mistry is getting 900-1000 per day. Versus while driving a bike, insurance, maintenance, fuel would eat into the gross revenue.)
I had installed ola driver app and rapido captain app to experience doing GTA taxi missions IRL.
In my limited experience, rapido was miles ahead of ola overall. Couldn't sign up for uber bike because I wanted to start with two others first, and if I couldn't get any passanger then I would sign up for third. But I didn't get to that point.
For rapido, the amount collected from passanger is different from the amount driver gets, and there is no connection between the two (according to rapido). And the amount to be collected from rider is not visible until ride is finished, but the amount driver gets is visible even before choosing to accept a ride. There were a few cases when the amount to be collected from passanger was only ~2rs smaller than the amount driver gets, and sometimes it was > 20rs for ride amounts < 150rs.
The money driver gets is based on the per km, there is a rate card, I think it was 10rs per km, and 11pm-6am this was boosted to I think 10-25% extra. Also the app shows "hot" pickup areas to let the driver know where the pickups are more.
There is also 2rs per minute extra wait time after arriving at pickup location after first 10 minutes. However I was not sure if there was money if passanger cancelled a pickup, but for rapido, I never experienced cancellation. Ola's rides were getting cancelled a lot more, so for ola's, there were frequent cases of me driving 1-2ish km for pickup, and then passanger cancelling the pickup, no money for me, so wasted time+money. It was kinda frustrating.
There are also daily/weekly/monthly incentives like complete 12,15,20 rides to get 200rs~500rs extra cashback.
from my rough calculations at the time, if I get a 100cc bike with 70 mileage, it's possible to do 40-50k a month in a metro city. (Assuming 10+ hours a day on average).
