Any bank account to open on the name as per PAN

My name in my aadhaar is messed up. People here (in nearby Aadhaar centers) don't even know that name correction can be done in aadhaar.

Anyway, I invest in stock markets where PAN is the primary requirement. So, my name in PAN is what's in there with all demat accounts. I can buy and sell shares. So, no problem for now.

However, recently Groww couldn't verify one of the bank accounts I hold for unknown reason (even though I received the Rs.1 IMPS verification amount in my bank account). I thought it could be due to difference in name in bank and in demat account. I could add another bank account, though.

Name in demat account/s is as per PAN. Name in bank accounts is as per aadhaar.

Anyway, I could open NSDL Payments Bank account and Airtel Payments Bank account using the name in PAN.

Btw, my PAN and aadhaar are linked long ago. So, I am not doing anything illegal. It's just messed up in aadhaar (or PAN). My name is mentioned as Lastname Firstname in PAN. In aadhaar, it is Firstname followed by the initial of the last name. Coming from a state where initial is used instead of Father's name.

I checked with HDFC online account opening. It accepts the name in Aadhaar. Checked with SBI too.

Checked with a physical bank branch. They are okay to open it as Firstname Lastname. Fair enough on their part. Fortunately, I already have a SB account in this format to receive money from my clients abroad.

While I search for the correct aadhaar update center to update the name, I am also looking for a bank where name can be matched with the name in PAN.

Edit: My aim is to avoid the correction in name either in PAN or in Aadhaar. In aadhaar, I can only make corrections twice.

My question: Is there any bank where I can open an account with the name as per PAN?

My suggestion is to update the name in Aadhar or Pan, to avoid such kind of issues.

Why dhis kolaveri di?

Go to nirAADHAR website search govt nirAADHAR centre. Change your name to legal name. You may have to give affidavit.

I don't understand why people use abbreviations in legal documents.

I don't understand why  organizations use different mediums for confirming someones identity even when their official website mentions ANY ONE of 100 or 200 documents they claim to consider as proofs.

I don't understand why nirAADHAR is considered THE one shot proof but uidai and the backside of card says ITS NOT A PROOF OF IDENTITY.

Blah blah blah

All NBFCs, Bank, Broker, MF company, CC companies, PAN, Aadhar, ....etc are creating their own set of rules over each other.
Even the state gov and central gov are also doing the same.
To avoid all this kind of hustle, keep the same name/abbreviation at all places.
It took me 1 year to update the documents of my family member at all the places to match same. Still I got surprise seeing at some places.

First of all, your name in Aadhar(FirstName Initial) is NOT MESSED UP.

Don't apologise for the way your people have been naming themselves for years.

It's the IT dept. and ultimately govts fault. They can't or frankly won't acknowledge initials. I see what happened here.

The IT dept expanded your initial (I. FirstName --> Initial FirstName). They can't allow you to have your name because REASONS.

---------
First thing that came to my mind before I read the whole description was to tell you to change your name in aadhar but that will be a mistake.

you have had your name all your life. Every certificate, every legal document has it the same way. The pan card is only for tax reasons. Don't create an unnecessary headache just to cater to it.

MY ADVICE,

Go to protean website and apply for a copy of your pan card

Check mark the box where it asks to issue the pan card with the same details in the aadhar.

They will issue you a pan card with the same name in your aadhar. Your actual name.

On top of that, it's only 107rs charge

And you can do it online from home.

Once you receive the pan with updated name, open an account with the new pan and aadhar. Now you can do it online.

This will update to you CKYC database.

Your demat account and mutual funds all will eventually have the same name that is in your aadhar.

You don't have to run around with different names.

The IT dept will always address you the name They gave you, You know because they don't have the technology to acknowledge initials or correct a mistake.

But the pan will have the same name as aadhar and so will all your investments.  Making sure they will be safe.

Remember pan is only for tax purposes. It's only purpose is to track how much you earn and spend.

Sir... There is no document that has the format like PAN. As mentioned in OP, I come from a place where initial is used (either in front or back of the name). The person who filled by PAN form 25+ years ago used the Lastname Firstname format (probably due to the guidelines given to him at that time). So, can't blame him. At that time, I was thankful to him for filling up the form, even though it wasn't his duty.

💯

That's why I don't want to change the name in Aadhaar. Also for other reasons. Only twice in our lifetime, we can change the name in Aadhaar. Also, no Aadhaar center near me knows that it is possible to update name in Aadhaar.

I tried to match the name in PAN from aadhaar. Not once, but at least once a year. Each time, I couldn't, because the online name correction of PAN no longer accepts initial. I am going to try the offline method, though. Before that, I wanted to see if there is a physical bank that can open an account as per the name in PAN so that I could avoid any correction at all.

Adhaar name/dob can be changed only 2 times in total.

Try using full name instead of Initial. First change Adhaar. then change PAN based on Adhaar.
