Hey Guys,

Here is a question and whoever answers best will win PVR gv of Rs. 250.

Description(Background)-

A lot of things are happening in the world. A lot of mis-information or propaganda are spreading like fire.

Recently I got aware about one such thing that wikipedia is not neutral and mostly anti-India. To make aware other people, I have shared the same information here on DD, but within a day the Post got locked. Is spreading awareness against false narrative of our country is political?

Irony is I have tagged admin yesterday at 5PM around and admin confirmed that only Political and social post are not allowed. So I was okay that this post is for awareness so admin will not lock it.

But today after almost 21 hours, a senior dimer tagged admin and claimed the thread is Political.
I cannot see anything significantly political that thread needs to be locked.

Question: Is the thread political or informational(awareness)?

Here is the Thread- "If You Don't Like India...": Delhi High Court's Tough Talk For Wikipedia | DesiDime

P.S.- Admins have full power to delete any comment on the thread which are violating the rules, so locking the thread, is really a solution?

DesiDime's moderation policies and community guidelines appear to be driven by a leftist agenda, which prioritizes a specific ideological narrative over diverse perspectives. This bias is evident in their handling of discussions around cultural and political issues. Few years back, I even had created a thread highlighting the platform's disproportionate enthusiasm for Western holidays like Christmas, compared to Indian festivals. No surprise your thread was locked, suggesting that DesiDime is not only promoting a leftist agenda but also suppressing views that challenge their cultural priorities. This raises concerns about the platform's commitment to open discussion and its ability to accommodate diverse viewpoints. The incident reinforces the perception that DesiDime's leftist leanings influence their moderation decisions and community engagement

Sorry, I didn't get any tag notification. Strange! 🤔 I just found this thread. Yeah, these are legitimate concerns.

The thread lock thing is happening very frequently esp. if discussion relates to nationalism.

Look at threads related railway accidents- or recent Kolkata case- they are also locked.

Now it is not the time to leave things casually. Either DD be neutral or get declared bias.

First things first. Do you even understand how Wikipedia works?

It isn't anti-India but the random contributors writing on it all around the world might be?

You too can make it pro-india if you want instead of writing here. What's needed for the world is people who can think logically without being blindsided by one side.

You mentioning a specific set of people & trying to sell a debate with money probably shows that you've already chosen one where the winner will be someone that matches your tone & side.

India already is near Russia or China with the ruling party trying to control everything including what one can think, say or share.

Shutting down the internet at random moments, asking for VPN data, trying to break E2E encryption is just the beginning.

Having the kinda people who go ga-ga over everything the party does is what breaks democracy.

The simple thing is, it's shouldn't be People vs People. It's Party vs People.

Criticise those party idiots at every point so that they do what they've been chosen for, make the life of people in the country better, not sell propaganda & have dumb idiots believe everything they say. That is why life doesn't get better here because people are happy fighting amongst themselves & selling their asses to the rulers. #ClassicDivide&Rule

Cannot match your intelligence esp. when it comes with half knowledge. It is easy to give gyan with incomplete knowledge and without going through the full details.

is this a real giveaway or sponsored PR?
just trying to understand, nothing else.

Like how Djakarta became Jakarta and Djibouti is spelt with a D, if someone tells me that Dastro is actually Djastro and writes an article about how they think that there actually was a J in the spelling of Dastro.. then I have to apply my own mind too.

If they had locked a previous thread to not have political discussions, then it is adding salt on burns by starting similar discussion again.. that too by claiming it to be a giveaway.,
Not participating in your giveaway, just sharing thoughts.

Not explaining to give it political turn, but just clarifying.. that
that line (about Djastro spelling) was a comment on.. not blindly getting influenced by whatsapp/email forwards, social media, conventional media.

I too do not rely on wikipedia as my primary source of information, but that is because the articles are often lame, biased/written by company's own employees/ person's own staff/followers, inaccurate, incomplete and not even corrected for DECADE plus.
I do not stop or start using wikipedia because some overpaid aunty or uncle in some Noida studio runs a boycott wikipedia hashtag.

To back myself up.. I can cite articles on self proclaimed god persons or other powerful people.. wherein the wiki does not at all contain any of the major controversies or court cases.
Same with companies. Their wikipedia arties often conveniently entirely hid some facts or suppress details to only present part of the truth.. that too only when some editors add those details back.

Doyens of desi classical music have sacrilegiously wrong details and incomplete details too🥺
while pages upon pages of most detailed rubbish/gyaan is written up on cringe pop stars or pop stars.
Many other unacceptable instances, but I am trying to refrain from giving the names of specific people or companies or incidents.. on which wiki articles exist/ existed.

I will only cite 'one' specific instance of the collective stupid of humanity.
Some half sozzled students thought of it as a prank.
They added the picture of one of them and a made-up name.. AS THE inventor of the first consumer level (bread) toaster.
almost EVERYONE from the BBC to usual sensationalist or cringe type media outlets kept on citing the wiki article for over 10-11 years😄 and mis-crediting the toaster inventor.
Those students who played the prank on wikipedia tok had the patience to not reveal it to many, till finally after many years they got found out or their bluff was detected by someone outside wikipedia and its editors.

By challenging the desidime people like this (starting this topic) you are actually directly asking if others think that they (desidime people) are wrong.
No harm in doing even that, but has to be done in a certain way. Less as a 'challenge' (tu mil parking mein mujhe) and more like a reconciliation (chaliye round table kaunference karte hein. Kashmir-Kashmir type dialogue).
