Amazon is exploring the possibility of launching a standalone app for its digital payments service, Amazon Pay, in India. The move aims to boost usage and visibility of the payment platform, which is currently integrated within Amazon's main e-commerce app in the country.
The tech giant believes that separating Amazon Pay into its own app could help it gain wider recognition and increase user engagement.
Amazon Pay offers a range of financial services in India, including money transfers, bill payments, insurance purchases, travel bookings, and investments in mutual funds and digital gold.
However, these features are currently only accessible through Amazon's e-commerce app.
The potential standalone app could give Amazon Pay a competitive edge in digital payments Market.

Hard to see them competing with Phonepe, paytm and gpay. The payment app market is saturated already.

They will launch it and after a few months/years merge it back to the main app.
