I ordered a product (Mokobara Transit cabin overnightter luggage) on July 20 during the Amazon Prime day sale priced at ₹5499 (bought at ₹4859 after promotions & bank discount, Current price - ₹6499)). The scheduled delivery date was "BY 24 July but the item was never shipped by 24 July so on the 24th I received a new delivery estimate BY 31 July but again the item was never even shipped by the 31st so this time I received another update from Amazon with "Estimated shipping date" of August 1 & Estimated Delivery date between August 3 & August 5. Today is August 2 i.e 14 days since the order was placed & the item has still not been shipped.
Customer care is useless since they talk big "assuring" & sometimes even saying "I'll personally take responsibility and make sure the item is delivered this time by the estimated delivery date." Since, there's a new customer care executive every time I talk to them, the hollow assurances & their words mean nothing. I'm thinking of cancelling the order & receive the refund. But I was wondering if by any chance I can ask for compensation over the refund amount for Amazon's inability to deliver the order?
PS: The product was Amazon fulfilled & shipping & delivery were Amazon's responsibility. It's also important to mention that several customers have given very poor delivery feedback for this product recently saying they too never received the product and Amazon kept giving new estimated delivery dates.
UPDATE: Only refund issued. No compensation from Amazon as their policies have changed.

In past i have taken price difference for a mobile order which wasn't shipped due to technical error and they cancelled that order , as per me in those case only which was cancelled by amazon are given with price difference
Also if product didn't got delivered how someone wrote review or did you checked this from outside Amazon?

Check Seller feedback. On prepaid orders, a customer gets verified purchase handle and can post seller feedback/review even if the product has not been delivered. Few seller feedbacks in the last month 👇
Do you think they will allow me to re-order at the same price I bought it if I call the customer service and ask them to cancel & re-order?
Cancel the order & move on.

Complaint on national consumer forum. They will deliver in 2 days.
Since your funds (if order 8s pre-paid) are already gone for over a fortnight now, it might be worthwhile to wait instead.
Wilfully cancelling it from your own side, with the past bozos🦤 annotating the order, would not make for a solid case AT ALL.
Most of the dodos🦤 who assured you that they will 'personally ensure blah blah' .. might not even have ANY annotations on your order.
They simply have 'codes' under which to 'wrap up' (close/conclude) a contact.
123 might be for 'invalid/incomplete'
456 might be for RoR (Refund on Return).
789 might be for 'Prime subscription renewal '
and so on.
Unless there are a zillion annotations or some remarks, contacts shown against the said order.. no one.. literally know one knows or wants to know the past calls that you made.
The average alms/ bheek (given to beggars) policy of Amazon was/is upto ₹100 by the frontline agents (level two/ L2 staff) and ₹500 by the so called Executive Customer Relations (ECR).
But that is for usual issues.
For few thousand rupees blocked by them and your inbox having proof of original.. order conform e-mail.. technically you can demand more (than the alms they throw at you).
But now there is no ECR team anymore. (They simply shove random temporary staff/ 12 month contract hires.. and put them in random functions every 3-4 months.. by claiming that they are being promoted.)
Previously even engineering background people or post graduates used to be in ECR and they used to be permanent employees who stuck around for 4½-5 years and knew the system in and out.
Versus now.. once a so called ECR person asked me.. if the e-mail address is all in lowercase or the first letter is in capital. (It was a gmail address.)
I was like didi/sister Rehne fou/let the issue be.. instead you just send 50 grams potassium cyanide to my place. I will consume it!
Even if it is them faltering on their own GDD (guaranteed delivery date) as is written in the original.. order confirmation e-mail
if YOU cancel the order from your side or if an agent cancels it with the remark (cancelled as per Cx request) then you really have no case for ANY compensation.. even the 100/500 bheek/ alms thrown your way.
If they stretch it any further or cancel or deliver now.. you surely can immediately raise a request that item damaged/ lock not working as inner mechanism seems broken.
(There cannot be any photo requirements for a number lock mechanism that has cooked off from the inside.)
And THEN you can double down to do taandav on their head and keep ready two three
Then can see if the ECR or some team lead/ leadership team person of the frontline agent offers you an option to instead keep the item against some token of apology.
(Can always tell them that the relative/family member for whom the luggage came.. has to travel abroad.. hence cannot wait for the replacement.
Brand/shops saying the lock repair/ new lock will cost 800₹.
Maybe after saying thus they might either insist on replacement or do vegetable hawker type bargaining or agree on the ₹700-₹800 that you cla as the cost for replacing the wobbly wheels or internally damaged/slipping lock.)
They used to add complimentary months to prime membership earlier, but I don't think they have any such compensation any more.
Correct. The customer service informed me that they no longer provide any compensation in the form of GC or anything. Only refund
my presto cloth surf packet was tampred with i uploaded ss and they refunded and told me to u dont need to return it .before they used to give gv but they stoped it i think and customer care is gone to shit too
