Amazon changes Merchant ID for buying GV (and MCC too?)

Wanted to redeem a reward on buying amazon GV (directly from amazon), and while trying to paying through CC, I noticed that the Merchant ID is now "AMAZON PAY INDIA" instead of the regular "AMAZON" or "AMAZON SELLER SERVICES" that I saw last month.
Is the new merchant ID showing for all ? (My last month transaction sms on similar reward redemption shows "AMAZON SELLER SERVICES" only)
Concerned whether this change (and maybe they changed MCC too to wallet?) would fetch rewards for SBI Simplyclick.
Anyone got rewards for the new merchant ID recently using SimplyClick or other cards which used to give rewards in buying GV on amazon (apart from aPay ICICI) ?
Reward expires tomorrow, so some fast inputs will surely help me.
In case they changed to wallet MCC which I really suspect, better to use millennia CC instead of simply click now? Can check with ₹100 gv using simply click later, right?
As soon as the transaction is settled, points are credited... @decideaim @batmanBABA
Just paid insurance bill using apay balance and apay cc, merchant name was AMAZONINSBOM.
I don’t know if they will give 2% back😞. Never seen this merchant name before.
In this Merchant name (INS) insurance so may be CC issuer can detect and you won't get any reward
This was brewing as I see with the initiation of aPay Balance UPI which was cooking all these days, they have segregated all kind of payments under different Merchant IDs with different MCC codes. This would have almost no effect on aPay ICICI card but for other cards... still I expect a lot of such changes coming soon, with normal ways of earning reward points etc seeing a drastic change... @chota_chattri
For AMAZON OR AMAZON SELLER SERVICES merchant name you can try loading your amazon pay wallet using uber app
You can transfer this money to bank also if you got wallet money to bank option in amazon
If you didn't get this option till now you may get this option till 30th September as per amazon so you can hold money till that time
@gauravmehta29 The amazon reward of 105 off on 3000 gv expires tomorrow for me. Yes, I'm aware of the other stuff you mentioned.
2nd thing is that are you really going to purchase that only 3.5% cb on gv purchase while amazon providing almost 7% Cashback on gv purchase daily 3-4 coupan of 750 and 800
amazon gv is the big loose point where users are purchasing gv with lot of discount/cashback. slowly amazon is fixing all these loose points.
I am getting Amazon in buying gv maybe you used gv buy a lot
Don't use other cards (except Apay) for Gift card purchases and the merchant IDs are still same for me ("Amazon" at checkout page & "Amazon Gift Card" in the statement). Amazon might've changed MCC but why don't you try ordering the same again? I don't think merchant IDs vary per cc if not the very next time, you should be getting old ones in the third/fourth try?
Back to the original question, as it seems they might have changed MCC to wallet (merchant id says "amazon pay", which can be compared to a wallet), is it wise to drop the idea of using SimplyClick (no wallet rewards) and use Millennia (1% for wallets too) instead and later try with a test transaction of ₹100 using SimplyClick to check if it is regarded as wallet now?
Ab kisiko to ye risk lena hi hoga taaki pata chale scene kya hai. This time your turn. Please do it and verify for us 😁
Strange! When I retry payment using HDFC card, Merchant name changes to just "AMAZON"...
I bought few via ICICI card yesterday and I think it was Amazon only. Even on debit email, i see Amazon instead of usual Amazon gift card.
Transaction yet to settle, so not sure what will appear in statement. Also, cb might be 5% instead of usual 2% due to this (although Amazon can reverse it later).
One more thing Amazon gift voucher purchases are also now unlocking scratch cards like 60 on 1000, which used to come only on real shopping transactions. So something is definitely changed.
Paid Through HDFC:
@romilq239 I did with HDFC millennia, unbilled entry will come up tomorrow, let's see... SBI will come through @decideaim if points are credited on settlement.
Simply click sometimes gives for paytm also so surely it can give for Amazon . Not 2.5% but 1.25% should come
31th Aug, i load paytm wallet via Zomato and new merchant name showing "Paytm Wallet".
I never saw this merchant name on SBI CC payment.
Isse pahele hamesa one97 ya paytm merchant name aata tha.
I think they are changing MCC code because of SBI Cashback credit card.
HDFC millennia unbilled transaction entry shows "AMAZON SELLER SERVICES MUMBAI". Cannot confirm cb% unless points credited in first week of October.
Rs.3,000.00 spent on your Credit Card ending 4782 at AMAZON PAY INDIA PRIVATET on 17/11/22. I got this msg. Will I get 5%
