All about Upgrade!!

When I have enough money to spend. Simple

When the old product is not working/ can't be repaired/ not in condition to use.

I mostly buy new products when older devices/appliances are still working but nearly reached their lifespan. When customer support/availability of spare parts isn't available, replacing old products with new saves you from wasting your money on low quality spare parts, frequent repair and high cost maintenance. Peace of mind is more important than money for me.

I have been getting away from this consumerism mindset that says you have to purchase the latest model phone/clothing/electronics or whatever to keep up. It's a never ending cycle. I'll stretch the things that I have to the maximum use I can get out of it and only then intend to buy something new. People especially youngsters should be taught to save for the future instead of splurge now and regret later.

When its almost unusable. I use phones for 3-4 yrs until it dies. Had bad experience with local repair shops and would never do it again. Same thing with PCs and laptops. Clothes are the one place where I just can't find many good quality ones like earlier. Its all use and throw after 6 months no matter the price you pay. This was unlike my childhood from when I still have many quality clothes that is fully usable and doesn't look old at all. 

I dont upgrade untill the current device serves the purpose

why upgrade in this planned obsolete world? I am trying to avoid this urge but its too difficult

I buy stuffs NOT UPGRADE:) because there is nothing to upgrade when i buy new:) the tech changes to the extent that , when I buy it again it dont feel like upgrade it feels like something new I got

This feel is because either one of the 2 things

1) because of planned obsolete things (OR)

2) holding a product for so long that upgrade literally is like something else

P.S: I hold on to stuffs for long without replacing to feel this:P trying to go this way (still trying but very hard lol)
