I have 2 jio sims which I use as secondary (one has UPI registered and other one is Aadhaar registered for one of the family member).
For one sim rechaged on 21-Nov-23 with Rs395 and expired on 14 -Feb 2024 (73 days without recharge)
For one sim rechaged on 09-Jan-24 with Rs155 and expired on 06-Feb 2024 (81 days without recharge).
I remeber both have around 30+ balance. Though I am unable to check now as without plan app does not show balance, can I check it out somehow?
I want to know how much longer can I keep them without recharge? I do no want the numbers to be disconnected, yet I want to recharge them minimally.
What is your experience with JIO?

Nothing jio never discounted sim because I uses last 3 years same u
5 years and still counting but it's advisable to recharge your jio sim atleast once in a year
I didnt do recharge for 2 years, still active.
Technically, it goes to churning db after 84 days, purging may start or not based upon the whims of jio...
Some incoming calls (received, not just missed) shall put back the number in action...
Jio network is never disconnected without recharge for years. All thanks to Motabhai.
All others are chor. No plans for 1 days , 7 days etc just to keep the connection in any network. Soon there will be No plan in market without data pack like jio. TRAI must make rule to provide users incoming validity plans talktime only like we get earlier (like 49 rs recharge in Chortel for 28 days). Jio gives free incoming validity for years whereas in chortel & vi we need to pay to get incoming calls.
Neither Airtel nor Vi disconnect the nos. even after years of no recharge. All the nos. had plenty of talktime balance but Rs 20 for Number Retention was never deducted. Only in one Vi no. a couple of months ago Rs 20 got deducted but CC couldn't shed any light as to the exact reason but since VAS/WAP deductions had stopped completely more than 3 years back I guess it was towards NR. This no. spent the entire time switched off and very rarely Vi credited free OG so it wasn't active as well.
A lot of users have reported of losing their number because of inactive sim. Please don't take any unnecessary stunt.
Transfer the aadhaar number to the other. And be prepared to lose one sim.
As long as sim is inserted in phone your number will remain active. If you put sim aside without any network or activity your number will be disconnected in around 90-120 days
Old Sim - never
new sim after 2021 - 84 days
Unless Airtel, Idea, Jio are above the law, they cannot terminate the customers connection for at-least 90 days since last validity plan expired or 90 days since one received a call or sent a message or made an outbound call.
but at the same time, it is completely discretionary and operators are free to terminate inactive subscription and recycle the numbers.
As such, Jio never adds complimentary service validity, but initially they extended the 'Prime' without the customers asking for it or recharging.
This allowed the number to still be on the same name, even with a paisa of new recharges.
But as highlighted by the users I mentioned, in critical use cases like Aadhar or bank linked number, it is best to keep recharging within 90-100 days.
I have personally had Airtel numbers without even the SIM (SIM lost/damaged) or an active pack for 15-16 months and in December- January (2024) when I got a duplicate AIM issued and sent port message, I even got a call back from the retention team.
(Very strange but the person even sounded/acted as sad as if I had broken up with her. Kept insisting that all grievances, including poor network in the locality, can be fixed and that I should send the CANCEL request.)
USING FROM LAST 5 YEARS WITHOUT RECHARGE...EVERY SIX MONTHS SOMEONE CALLS AND THREATN TO DISCONNECT NUMBER BUT NOTHING HAPPENS.....
Old series numbers which were activated during the initial launch are active without recharges.
20 dedication rule was there isnt it? I read somewhere it was some order to not disconnect untill balance in acc?
How to check balance when there is no active recharge in JIO?
Account management and checking account details can all be done via 'selfcare' mode.
https://jio.com/selfcare/dashboard/recharge-history
'selfcare' is available both on the portable applications and on the website.
ℹ️Tip:ℹ️ The log-on access code/OTP is sent even if number has no active plan and the operator website too can be opened in the browser in the device which the SIM/ e-SIM is present, EVEN WITHOUT ANY ACTIVE outgoing PLAN.That is right, jio dot com will open in the browser if the mobile data is set to the slot in which jio SIM is there, even if otherwise the jio number has no active service validity or plan.
Jio App is showing Rs50 JioPay cashback voucher for autopay I setup once (though I remember I withdrew it the next day after eceiving voucher),
How do I use those vouchers?
Had 3 spare sims. vi - last rechrge 399 84 days 2019 Airtel-49 pack 2021 jio - 399 56 days 2021 luckily all still working. Vi randomly gives 1gb 7days every month& Airtel 1gb 2-3days in 4-5months which might be the reason for going on but heard about jio many nos were closed within 40-60 days after pack expired
Mine still works for incoming... Last recharge was before corona time... Jio dosnt seem to disconnect
How to know if the Jio has deducted from mail balance? I remember I had around Rs50 in main balance in Feb but now I have around Rs30.
Where can I check deduction history in jio?

When I say after 84 days, this is the general behavior faced by many people but not a hard & fast rule. If you're not facing this then great enjoy.
