Aadhaar Linked Mobile Number needed in opening account.

I have seen some banks asking Aadhaar linked mobile numbers while opening bank account online.

Suppose mob number # 1 is linked to aadhaar
& need to open account with mob number # 2.

And when I tried to open bank account in Fincare SFB with mobile number #2, it didn't not allow me to complete the KYC online. Thus had to visit branch only.

But however for my mom account was opened with online KYC as her number used in account opening was linked to aadhaar.

Bank official confirmed that you can only use mobile number which is linked to aadhaar while opening account layer u can change it.

So what is the issue.. why some bank has made it compulsory to input aadhaar linked mobile number.

put some light on this.

They do it to give more inconvenience to customers simple

Just like banks like idbi yes Bank and IndusLnd don't allow customers to change mobile number through ATM machine they want customers to visit branch only to taste psu work culture in private bank

Icici and Axis atleast don't force such stupid things on customers

It's all about backstage coding I guess. Some allow. Some won't

afik they fetch the mobile number from central kyc . so they are only able to fetch the number linked with aadhar

don't think so.. my ckyc has my non-aadhaar number only...

and uidai or digilocker does not share out mobile no, even to registered entities requiring e-kyc

This is explicitly done by banks, who think this step will act as additional account security layer, that the mobile linked to aadhaar is only used while opening the bank acc, or in other words, owner of aadhaar only is opening the bank account.

UIDAI or Digilocker does not share mobile no, but whichever bank/nbfc/institution wants to do ekyc, they can share mobile number of user with UIDAI during e-kyc process, and UIDAI will only respond with Yes or No whether mobile number match was true or false. Those who understand coding, see page 23 & 24 here:
https://uidai.gov.in/images/resource/Aadhaar_Au...

However, do note that while many banks claim that you need to open account with aadhaar linked number only, it is actually not true. I've noticed that many banks/neobanks still allow opening with any other number because their backend coding is not implemented to handle phone number mismatch. My recent experience regarding this was Jupiter. Agent kept claiming that I can only register with number which is linked to Aadhaar, but I anyway registered with my other number.

And if the bank has actually implemented this check on their software side, then offline kyc is your only option.

Banks do this because they want only 1 account with 1 aadhar card, especially for those accounts which are opened online
