The cabinet has approved universal health coverage for senior citizens in a big move to enhance the kind of geriatric care India’s aged receive. It announced on Wednesday that those above 70 years above irrespective of income will be covered under the flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).

this scheme is total sham .. including all jumla schemes .

bad words come out of mouth ... they are stepping hard on common man nerves now a days .

its like sprinkling salt , pepper , red chilli on a persons wound .

Not for me as my grandparent recently got a heart surgery in a private hospital in Delhi and the bill was 3.65 lakh but didn't even need to pay a penny as it got all covered under this scheme

@DimeAnotherDay Nope no hesitation at all, no problems faced, as soon as we got approval they proceeded with admission and told us that we won't need to pay even a single penny. But just in case operation doesn't happen (only 1% chance) then we would need to pay for that day's admission and tests charges.

In our city the costliest pvt hospital honors Ayushman card,my friends mother got admit there and she doesn't had to pay a single penny for tests also,after discharge she got Rs 300 for taxi fare to go home.

A very decisive move by the government which is reaping demographic dividends with her working population and also taking care of septagerian and above. Now a days the old people are in distress and are marginalized in real sense by their families.

It will take a heavy toll to the exchequer but will provide a financial stability by taking the burden of treating normal illness to severe ailments.

Preventive care was always the priority of this govt. and earlier governments but curative care for elders, no one cares; but now on this came as a blessing.
