WD is better. Do note that my answer is based on usage of both products in past & not test bench or numbers. Only go with hdd if you have patience to copy data else ssd.
In both case data can be lost both have average life is 5-10 years.. if want to store for long time Verbatim UltraLife™ Gold DVD-R recommend or more expensive lto tape(lto tape drive are expensive)…
hdd data recovery have more chances compared to ssd
i have 15-16 year old hdd and still working but in my laptop hdd failed, more probably due to my ipad because ipad have strong magnets 🧲

For that the best solution would be to buy MS Office 365 personal edition 1 year subscription which comes with 1TB onedrive space so use that as cloud storage to save a copy of all your important data there. However, personal one user version cost 3600 for 1 year while family edition with 1500 cb coupon on amazon will cost 3400 for 1 year & which comes with 6 accs each having 1TB onedrive space so total 6TB cloud storage & can be used for backup of all the data on all the devices in family. Each acc in office 365 also gets 5 devices licenses for running latest MS Office word/powerpoint/excel. If you have some friend/relative to share the cost of office 365 family edition then get that. You can also stack keys of office 365 for up to 5 years so can get 365 family edition at effectively 3400 with cb coupons from different amazon accs having those coupon & stack up to 5 years of office 365 family edition with 3400 per year price.
