I would go for side by side as its easy to organize stuff. Also side by side will need less space in front of it as the door size is ~ half than similar capacity non side by side. But yeah it depends on what's the size of 'stuff' you usually store.

This is not a convertible refrigerator. Left side is freezer and right side is fridge, temperature can be changed. Better to go with convertible, YMMV.
