If you use your laptop mostly at home hook it up to an external monitor. For perf limitations(mostly due to inadequate RAM) any Linux distro will be pretty useful IMO. Most probably these options are not to your liking but just wanted to let you know.

I got Acer one 10 s1002 frm paytm @ 11990, after CB my laptop is good in multi tasking and can handle 6-7 Windows app at a time. only thing I installed Windows 8.1 as Windows 10 was giving me problem of battery drain after shutdown.
