what is the point in buying gold coins like this? For e.g Can i go to any malabar gold jewellery and sell this malabar gold coin and get cash? I dont think that liquidating gold coin is easy. Any comments?

you can take it literally to any jeweler be it brands or local ones and get their purchase rate (which is usually 80-90rs less than the selling rate per gram) in cash. if you choose you can exchange it for jewelry and pay the difference too,
I have been buying gold coins like these 1-2 gram ones since last 10 years based on Desidime deals and 10g purchase on each diwali, two years back purchased a large amount of jewelry for wedding and more than half of my purchase was offset by just giving coin.
They melted everything together and tested the quality and weight which came out 24k and the total weight of coins I gave so not a single coin was lower quality or weight.
