In a world of over-priced products, the Mac Mini base configuration is the only Apple product that is "value for money"! I've a iMac 25" from 2011 still going strong. I replaced macOS with Windows 7 on day one and Windows 7 with Ubuntu when Windows 10 came out.

In india I don’t think you need to have edu email. You can verify your educational institution ID from unidays website

And now Apple has improved macOS quite a lot so there's no need to replace it either, at least as long as it is supported.

That is true for a phone. But for a pc you can always buy a ssd and transfer unnecessary data

while i was going through, this time they did not leave any empty slot  for easy upgrade outside. two NAND chips totaling to  256Gb is used smile and the upgrade to 512Gb 2 times costlier smile with 24Gb RAM. Good Move by apple to fool us

the most compact setup in windows side you can do is getting a mATX case and motherboard and a 16inch portable monitor. definitely not portable like mac mini but aleast if you are moving between cities, you can put it in a bag like this https://www.amazon.in/Grocery-Shopping-Vegetabl... and hook it in your bike. thats how i do.
