What is the Smartphone Cashback Offer from Airtel?
Under the Smartphone Cashback offer, customers who upgrade to an eligible new smartphone on Airtel network can get a cashback worth Rs. 6000: Rs.2000 after 18 months & Rs.4000 after 36 months.
How can I become eligible for the Cashback?
Eligible customers need to do an eligible recharge within the first 30 days of upgrading to new 4G handset, as per T&Cs. Eligible recharge is any Airtel Unlimited recharge of Rs.249 or more (with 1.5 GB /day data and above) which needs to be continuously done for 36 months. Only customers who stay on the same smartphone purchased as part of the offer for 18 months will qualify for the 1st cashback. Any customer who is not eligible or does not claim the first cashback will not be eligible for the second cashback.

Note:
- Around 200 models are supported. Double Check. For example, Redmi 9 and Redmi 9 Active are exactly same phones with same price. But, Only Redmi 9 is eligible
- There are lot of terms & conditions. But, from what I have read, this is a pretty good offer. If anyone sees any catch, please post.
- I usually recharge for 84 days or 365 days, which is hassle free and ends up 20% cheaper than 28 days plan. From the FAQ, it wasn’t clear if is eligible for long term plan (84 days / 365 days). But, T&C says 598, 2498, 2798 plans are eligible. So, I believe as long as u r active for entire 36 months, you should be eligible regardless of whether recharge was done monthly or annual.
- Also, it does not say if recharge has to be done in Airtel thanks App or any app / site.
- Airtel Payments bank account is required to claim the cashback after 18 months. It is opt-in. Meaning, After Airtel communicates about cashback, you need to avail the cashback within 15 days.

Now, Airtel was expected to launch this to counter JioPhone next.
if JioPhone was launched at cheaper price around 4k, Airtel would have launched even better offer. Unfortunately, JioPhone was poorly priced.
