Some time back I had posted a thread to know if there were any online book stores where you can get physical books at a cheaper price.
I have found a few such stores through social media and will be sharing the same here. I’ll be posting as and when I find new ones, so whoever is interested can follow the thread.
Any other dimer who knows any such store can also comment the link.
In my suburb, there used to be book stalls (pre-covid) but can’t find them anymore nearby where you could find them at pretty cheap rates – The reason for looking for online stores
P.S. The books could be in a new/used condition, it will differ from store to store. So in case someone is buying, read the description on the website before buying.
Most websites also have an option to sell/rent these books, so once you are done reading, you can sell/return them. You can sell your old ones to create space for new purchases for people with physical constraints.
Happy reading ❤

Try Mypustak.com
If you’re lucky, you can get your preferred book(2nd hand) for Rs. 60-70. Last year I purchased “Tell me your dreams” by Sidney Sheldon and “The Da Vinci Code” by Dan brown for Rs. 150 total.

good thread. a topic on “what are you reading” will be great too.
The only books I am reading right now are educational ones
Will create one after my exams
Till then if somebody else wants to create, it would be great too
Great topic.
Though I’m not a big fan of reading I love physical books. Now I prefer ebooks for practical purposes.
1) Easy to access, easy to carry and store.
2) Easy to search for a word or phrase or any information for that matter.
3) Physical books need lots of care and attention, Time and energy that one may not have. Especially in in monsoons when air is very humid, old books need to be kept in suitable low humidity space. Due to high humidity ( or even water damage) some books can physically warp in shape.
4). Physical books especially the old ones need to be protected from commonly found bugs. Silver fish or lepisma is a nightmare for any Book collector or library owner.
5) Just like everything else books can suffer from physical ware and tare. But if you know the basics you can fix those common ware and tare.
6) This might be my personal unpopular opinion but until we can make paper (pages) from 100% recycled materials physical books are a small threat to trees and nature.
………
Digital books don’t evokes same type of emotion like physical book but they’re still great if you have an eBook reader or even a tablet.
For unnecessary textbooks for school/college, I prefer pdf .
For fav stories/books , I prefer physical copies – paperback/hardback both
no book is unneccessary.. for every book i suggest buy hard copies.. it is useful
Original or similar to roadside copies
If you are an old comics aficionado like me, then check this out https://readcomiconli...i/. Great place to read old comics. I prefer both online and paper format. I just read whatever I get my hands on. 🙂🙂🙂
Yes, paper format has its own charms.
Awesome.
Do you any good sites where we can get physical/printed magazines – old or new?
Forgot to mention, most websites also have an option to sell these books, so once done reading you can sell them or you can sell your old ones to create space for new purchases
In Hyderabad if we go to koti we can get all second hand books at cheaper prices
Even for Mumbai, if we got to Fort area, we get them at very affordable prices but it is not possible for everybody to go there regularly especially since the pandemic and lockdown
For e-book readers, here’s something for free – https://go.thefussylibrarian.com/intl-newslette...
This is where you can rent books @ 20% of the cost – https://linktr.ee...r/
(Read & return)
@Wontdisplaymyname it would be helpful if u can add any personal experience with these platforms. Are they trusted, time to deliver, book quality, and so on?
I don’t have any personal experience with these sites. They have a huge following on Instagram and I have read good reviews on their page too.
Thanks for sharing.
I prefer hard copies for long term health of my eyes. No eBook device can match that whether it’s Kindle or other alternatives. Book(s) is the only option where one has a choice to avoid digital screen. For traveling eBook device is a viable option as it means carrying lesser weight.
