Help needed for filling TDR.

Hello All.

Yesterday booked a tatkal ticket of Train Number 12262, NGP- CSMT.

Now I have received an SMS stating that the train is rescheduled and will now start from its source at 11:15 hrs, 5.30 hrs later.

Now I don't think that the train will be able to cover this delay. NTES is showing a tentative delay of 2:47 hrs at my boarding station. And as I need to be in Mumbai by 10 AM tomorrow morning, I will not be able to board this train.

My question is When should I file TDR? Now or after 3 hours of scheduled departure time of train? Or is there any direct cancellation option available for such cases for tatkal tickets?

It will not allow you to file the TDR until it shows that the train is 3 hours late.

Even if you file the TDR, do no expect any refund. As TTE will sell your seat to someone else and will mark you as traveled.

If you really want a refund, go to the Railway Station, get the No Travel Certificate from the Station Master, and then file the TDR.

So, in case they reject your TDR case stating the reason you traveled, you can send this letter as a proof. (Process takes around 2-3 months)

I faced the same situation a few months back bro. In my case I Filed the TDR as soon as receiving the delay SMS. At first the dimers warned me that the TTE would sell the ticket but anyhow I filed it. After three months I got the full refund. I haven't got any no travel certificate from the station master. Go ahead and file you will get the refund.

That depends on the route and TTE, some good TTE do not sell.
I had this experience twice, and both times TDR was rejected stating that the Passenger had traveled.
It will be hard to get the No Travel Certificate after 3 months. How will you convince them that you did not travel?

After 3 hours of late departure from your reservation station only you are eligible for Full Refund.

So you need to wait till it reach your Boarding or reservation station

To get No travel Certificate I need to get it from my boarding station right? If yes it's not possible now from my end. Or if I get it from nearest railway station will it be fine?

As the train is not yet started from its origin and it is showing 5:30 hrs late can I just file a TDR and be safe?
