Thanks for creating this thread. Atleast now the dimers know that the credit cards can't used for commercial purposes in the hope of cash back which will not only nullify the cb but also cancellation of cc.

Knowledge is power. 👍🏼

You are saying that other person don't know how to sell anything. I think you are the one who don't know anything about selling as no person buys for 6200 & sells for 6100 just for cashback (as you said in 1 of your comment).

Second you are doing something which is legally wrong.

Third why should bank stop your transaction - this way you won't be punished. Axis did right thing not giving cashback because this is the only way to punish culprits like you. Punishing culprits is better than devaluing card for every one who uses it.

I know of two such cases, both with Axis ACE Credit Card.

Person 1: Used his Axis ACE Card on non-personal LPG Booking and Electricity Bill Payments. He earned 28K+ Cashback in one month. His card was blocked 1-2 days after the cashback was credited. He received the same SMS as you. But, his cashback was not revoked. After blocking his card there was an excess limit balance of around 10K (He utilised around 18K Cashback) on his card, which should have been revoked according to the Bank. But, after 1 year he received the excess limit balance in his savings bank account with very good interest. To get this refund he contacted Axis Customer Care.

Person 2: He also used his ACE Card on non-personal bill payments. He earned around 17K CB in one month. But, his card was blocked just 1-2 days before the cashback got credited. In this case, he lost his cashback.

Axis Bank is pathetic

Firstly, understand why your cashback is cancelled. You've done transactions worth ~ Rs 6 lakh in a month on a credit card, which is given to a person whose income is either Rs 15k per month (for salaried) or Rs 30k per month (for self-employed)

Only cards where 6L/month can be done are either business cards or HNI cards, and yours was neither.

Contrary to popular opinion, even a CB of Rs 5,000 per month is high on these cards.

not sure but banks are also not transparent.....

and there must be warning to such utilisation....... Before any cancellation

Cancellation .... of cards like this without any warning... And if your spends are justified.....

you can raise with bank and if not getting proper resolution... Raise with the RBI using ipgram/cpgram with all proofs

That's the thing, most in similar situation can't prove that.

Nice, this should happen with everyone who is ordering in insane amount. Due to these people users like us suffer and card gets devalued.

How do you decide what is insane amount of purchase for the other person . What is insane amount of purchase.

credit card limits are not set based on ITR and certainly not on cibil scores as well .

Banks have a complete different algorithm for giving credit limits which is certainly unknown .

Banks are more kind toward the salaried class while giving insane credit limit than the business class . This is pure trap because the salaried class in India are the biggest ill logical spenders . The business class people use credit card more careful and as per their limit .

Banks have given bit corporate business loans and they have made personal property with that and here they are playing vigilante with a common man who has used 3l credit limit to get cashback points.

I am thinking of paying my LIC premium with Credit card. Will this be commercial usage?

What exactly is commercial usage and definition?

I am unaware hence asking.

Paying your LIC premium with a credit card is not considered commercial usage. Commercial usage typically involves business transactions or activities for profit. It's using services or products for non-personal, business-related purposes.

Summary is you cannot use credit cards for commercial use and they cannot observe on each transaction whether it's commercial or not. They identify as a whole. Suppose you have ordered lots of Mobile phones with that card during particular duration or ordered other electronics. They will be able to analyse and flag only after having full data.

Good that banks are cancelling misused cards. Also, CB should be capped at some amount monthly like SBI. Abusing anything leads to consequences sooner or later.

I guess, this was the endgame of using services like YAPER.

axis bank just stole your cashback. Maybe you can get refund from shops even after 1 month, try. I did once for a tv in a shop's swipe machine but just next day. Or guarantee them you will buy with another card or bank again.

Axis blocked my bank account in between zerodha trading even after partial kyc and says visit branch. I am not using their cc since then. Also, in your case they should have blocked payment instead of stealing cashback with "suspected" commercial use excuse.

Long ago Manhattan card stole my cashback for buying jewellery by blocking card, it was clearly personal use and only ~Rs. 50k single item payment. Nobody uses Manhattan now, so they knew in advance they were closing soon, which means they thought of stealing my CB/points with some excuse before going out of business.

Axis may not be going out of business but simply STOLE your big cb for profit. They should cancel your purchase too from their side if cancelling cb, i.e. apply non-commercial suspection rule on whole purchase+cb and not just cb. They did not even give you maximum possible personal cb.

What an idea???!!!

They should cancel the transaction. And you will get the purchased products for free???

26000 CB is a huge amount, what is your income and spending source ?? IT department will surely going to scrutinize you for this type of financial activities...

Deal Newbie Deal Newbie

26000 in a month is a red flag straight away .

You could have used multiple cards, which you can apply from your family members.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet
Link Copied

Anyone advising to complain to RBI have not read the MITC of the card issuer.

Axis has clearly mentioned if you use the card for non-personal use, they can cancel the card anytime they wish, which they have done and the same was agreed by you during card issuance.

The burden of proof is on you to prove that these spends were for personal usage, which you cannot.

If you want to live peacefully, forget the cashback amount and don't do such things in future ruining the CC party for everyone.

And, next be ready for IT notice next year.

Im so happy they cancelled the card, it deserves being cancelled, i hope axis doesnt issue you a card again.
