I wanted to know when does bsnl disconnect a prepaid number and after disconnection whats the process to get it back and within how many days

I have a bsnl number and last recharge expired in june 2023

It shows 18 march 2024 as the disconnection date so till when i can go without recharging and incase its disconnected then whats the process and charges to reactivate the same numberIMG20240427160532

if i opt for port out from bsnl what is procedure & incase port out date is expired then my bsnl sim will work or not

The benefits and rights of the existing plan and the contract with the existing operator only seizes if (the number is) successfully ported to the new operator (and the number gets registered in the database of the new telecom operator).

If someone generates the Unique Porting Code, but does not actually give it to a different operator and does not port out, then the number will continue to be with BSNL.

      ➺ Request UPC by sending a message to 1900. Message should be in the format 'PORT ×××××-×××××'. (Port space ten-digit phone number.)

  ➲ If number has been with the operator for more than 90 days and all dues are cleared, the UPC (unique porting code) is received from 1901.
      The message also clearly states the date and time before which the new operator should claim it. Validity of UPC ought to be noted and one should try to get the new KYC done at-least 18-20 hours before the validity of the UPC expires.

      ➺ Note down the UPC. 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐏𝐂 𝐛𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 e⃨x⃨c⃨e⃨p⃨t⃨ w⃨h⃨e⃨n⃨ a⃨p⃨p⃨r⃨o⃨a⃨c⃨h⃨i⃨n⃨g⃨ a⃨ r⃨e⃨t⃨a⃨i⃨l⃨e⃨r⃨ o⃨r⃨ n⃨e⃨w⃨ o⃨p⃨e⃨r⃨a⃨t⃨o⃨r⃨ s⃨t⃨o⃨r⃨e⃨ (to port and finish the KYC.)

      ➺ C̳h̳e̳c̳k̳ f̳o̳r̳ a̳n̳d̳ e̳n̳q̳u̳i̳r̳e̳ a̳b̳o̳u̳t̳ M̳N̳P̳ p̳o̳r̳t̳-̳i̳n̳ o̳f̳f̳e̳r̳s̳.̳ Sales promotion teams of all telecom companies (including BSNL) give scheme based or target based offers to retailers/agents 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐍𝐏 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬. The channel partner (retailer/agent) in turn often offer complimentary 28 days, 56 days packs for free (28 days) or at nominal charges (like ₹149-₹199 for the 56 days pack).

  ➲ Give the UPC to operator store person or to the retailer.

      ➺ They will mostly complete (filling the customer acquisition form) via digital KYC method.

  ➲ If digital KYC, then the customer's live photograph is taken. The address and photo ID document needs to be verified by the operator.

      ➺ In-case of physical document and no biometrics, the photograph of the original (colour) document is taken. Older black and white voter ID cards may not work.

  ➲ If giving Aadhar as proof and if the store or the retailer has the biometric scanner (fingerprint reader) 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝚙𝚑𝚢𝚜𝚒𝚌𝚊𝚕 𝚌𝚘𝚙𝚢 𝚘𝚏 𝙰𝚊𝚍𝚑𝚊𝚛 𝚒𝚜 𝙽𝙾𝚃 𝚛𝚎𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚛𝚎𝚍. Simply giving thumb/finger impression and giving the Aadhar number is enough.

      ➺ Store or retailer fills the CAF on the computer/ mobile application. 𝐄𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭❜𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 etcetera 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 (exactly like in the ID proof).

  ➲ Be cautious that they do not take your KYC, thumb impressions, documents but clandestinely fill someone else's numbers using your name. Any number on your name, if misused by anyone... will lead back to you.

      ➺ If your current operator (BSNL) gives an all 🆗👌🏼 to the new operator, then the new operator will process the application.

  ➲ Official timelines are 5 to 6 days, but usually the migration happens on the night of the third working day (if porting within the same circle).

      ➺ If the promised freebies are not immediately credited and there is no outgoing, do not panic. Migrations happen around midnight. Sometimes the systems calibrate once in 6-8 hours. So if the retailer promised the 28days pack free, then the operator will auto activate it soon enough.

  ➲ T̳h̳e̳r̳e̳ m̳i̳g̳h̳t̳ b̳e̳ a̳ C̳O̳M̳P̳L̳E̳T̳E̳ b̳l̳a̳c̳k̳o̳u̳t̳ o̳f̳ o̳u̳t̳g̳o̳i̳n̳g̳ S̳M̳S̳ f̳o̳r̳ u̳p̳t̳o̳ 2̳4̳ h̳o̳u̳r̳s̳ if it is mandated by TRAI.

⚠️𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥 says that even for prepaid to postpaid migration WITHIN AIRTEL, if it is done on-line (using the website or the application) via OTP method, then such numbers would NOT work if number is in Jammu Kashmir. I have not personally verified this and it may not be of concern for MNP customers, but 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐥 claims that if one wants to use a prepaid to postpaid converted number in Jammu Kashmir, then one must have KYC done at the store/retailer. So if porting to Airtel, Jio type loony bins, then double check, triple check for any undisclosed terms and conditions.⚠️

Else ready to pay you ₹107 plus whatever service charge or gift you want, to get two prepaid numbers back on-line. [One of them got terminated as recently as last quarter of 2024 and the SIM is still available with the user.]

If there was no plan voucher activated in the past few months and it says 18/03/2024 as the date when customer seizes to have the connection, then it might already be terminated.

If by chance it is not terminated, then new recharge would get activated.
Unfortunately the voice customer support (18001801503) give conflicting details about the status.

Hence the only way to know for sure and possibly reactivate is by visiting the physical BSNL office.

If the connection is indeed terminated then the process to get the number back, subject to availability, is the same as taking any new connection.

I have not used the BSNL channel app for retailers or the one for customers, but maybe it can help to give confirmation of whether the number has been released for reuse or is still on the name of the old customer.

If the number is disconnected then bsnl can reissue the number to anyone in any state.
