According to a Reddit thread, OnePlus is giving a free battery replacement for the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T phones in India. While there has been no official comment from OnePlus on this, the Reddit user appears to have had their OnePlus 5T battery changed for free, but they did have to pay Rs 473 for labour.
While the thread implies that the free battery replacement initiative is taking place in India, it could also be happening in other regions of the world. The reason for this appears to be that the company has a large volume of extra batteries for these models in store, that they are trying to clear.
As per the Reddit user you can only walk into an official OnePlus store to get a OnePlus free battery replacement. Online pickup, which may cost extra charges, is not available for free battery replacement. Additional people who are not facing any battery issues can also get a battery replacement, as it is not limited to the faulty battery case.

I dropped off OP3 & OP6 phones on Saturday and picked them up on Sunday. VR Mall Bangalore. Just went in and asked for free battery replacement. They had a lot of phones for battery replacement. Labour of 473 each.
Will this work in authorized service center?
Got it done at Koramangala One Plus Centre, you need to have the battery diagnostic with old battery below 80% or they won’t replace. Mine was at 63%. It takes 2 hours and costs 472/phone. The app to install for this is https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/oneplus-ltd/onepl... . Install app and click on the Battery and it will show the current battery state, go for exchange only is below 80% or they won’t entertain. Reason for this is OnePlus has got a lot of battery and want to dispose all of them is what the engineer there told me.
Yes, its true but there is one Terms and conditions there.
1. They having one app
2.Ask us to install and check the battery health status.
3.In that app the battery health status has to show below 80% or equal.
4.For those users only applicable free of cost.

I visited NSP branch 1+ service centre 2-3 days back, I have a 3 yrs old oneplus 6, with 70% battery health and a broken back glass panel,
rep asked me to wait 8-10 days and I am supposed to pay for back panel nd 472 service charge..
not much rush (maybe bcz it was a rainy morning 11:30 am)..
once I casually walked into CP service centre in the evening nd there was so much rush..
I suggest to go to any store early in the morning 11am and get the token early so that you dont have to stand line for hours..

Battery must be below 80%. If it is 80%, they will not replace.
Got both OP3 and OP6 battery replaced at Richmond Town Service Centre. It was a bit crowded as I went in the weekend. The process is very smooth though. They replace it in around 3-4 hours max. Will depend on the crowd though for the waiting time.
