The Serum Institute of India (SII) has announced that it will price its Covishield vaccine at Rs 600 per dose for private hospitals and Rs 400 per dose for state governments.

Because SII has gotten 3k crores from the government. So at this time, all this is pure profit (his own words from Jan) – he said that by selling at 150, they are still making a profit but not super profit. Judging by his family’s wealth, he is not going to perish if he can provide the vaccine at the same rate as he is giving to centre. Stop defending greedy capitalists. Last year, GOI didn’t even allow States to use the disaster fund. Then it didn’t pay GST to the states but now expects them to bear the cost of expensive vaccines all by themselves while they save the cost and build a new office building for 20k crores.
Do you know, SII is selling the same vaccine abroad at cheaper rates? Indian govt is getting it for Rs 150 while SII has been providing it to other countries for like Rs 110-130Rs.

When comes to money indian are worse, everytime everywhere they just want to milk money. Oximeter used to sell for 1k online now that’s selling for 3.5k. Same goes everywhere from hospital to cremation. And I see here ppl are saying the vaccine company has to make profit. But isn’t this pendamic time, ppl are dying. Serum Institute of India has reportedly clarified that ₹150 was the initial price which was fixed without knowing whether the vaccine would work.
After Pune’s Serum Institute of India announced the open-market price of its vaccine against Covid-19, Covishield, CEO Adar Poonawalla clarified that there has been no differentiation between the Central government and the state governments in pricing, news agency PTI reported quoting CNBC-TV18. Both the Centre and the state governments will have to pay ₹400 per dose of the vaccine for new contracts, Poonawalla clarified.
