Why centre is not implementing a lockdown?

Nothing political, just exploring reasons for no lockdown.
One reason can be economy, but economy is already f*#ked.
Country is already in crisis mode, even after reducing testing from 19lk to 15-16lk the number of new cases is at all time high. Scientist are warning for new waves.
What is the threshold where the govt will realize the shit has got real?

It’s better i don’t comment or else dimers will bash me up
Because majority of Indians said that they don’t want lockdown.
Centre listened to them and decided not to implement national lockdown again.
Now it’s upto states whether they want to do it or not.
I personally think we will not see national lockdown again.
Pata nahi ye corona kitna time rahega..kitni baar mutate hoga..aur kitni vaccines leni hai future me (jinda rahe toh)..
“Economy” is a vast word… it’s not always what you think; many of us might be privileged enough to stay at home, do wfh, get the salary, eat, binge watch and live… but there are people down there, the daily wagers, the lower n lower middle class people, many of whom “earn” to survive, to eat; not to live… take a construction worker for example; if there’s a lockdown, he won’t have any work; no work for him means no earning, and a person like him gets to earn his money daily in order to make for his “food” and a lockdown for him means a nightmare, he won’t be able to survive; underprivileged people like him will die in starvation and suicide rather than the covid itself… Also do note that the previous year’s lockdown have depleted the “savings” of most of such people and now it simply isn’t possible to survive w/o earning…
Just because we are privileged doesn’t mean others are too… be thankful, try to help and reach out to the underprivileged and stay safe.
P.S.: This is just a small example as to why a complete lockdown is not the solution.
I opened the thread to comment on similar lines.
PM already took the bullet last time, this time most likely he wants to play it safe, by letting states take the control over. Now most states are under lock-down and are continuing further.
One shouldn’t link reasoning with lockdown implementation
Last year, Master announced 21-day lockdown without even consulting the cabinet
& who knows.. there’s gonna be a National-Lockdown announcement anytime soon (They started teasing us.. just like MH did before implementing full lockdown)
Also, State-wide lockdown means you can play the blame game which is obviously not possible when you impose National lockdown (Centre Guidelines will be mandatory)

Again.. its a complicated situation
w/ Lockdown : No earnings for certain sections, people won’t be able to pay rent, loans…
w/o Lockdown : The same section (mentioned above) who work outdoors and rely on daily/weekly earnings won’t be able to afford hospital expenses (mild to serious cases – COVID-19). If they end up with damaged lungs or some other complications, they may not be able to do the same work again. They may not even have an oximeter to monitor SpO2 levels before its too late

Maintaining balance between lives & livelihood is very important right now
If the situation becomes way too critical (like it is in some cities like Delhi, Bengaluru).. there is no other option than to impose lockdown
+ the govt failed to predict the seriousness of second wave, they were largely unprepared and even took things for granted because there weren’t many cases in Jan & Feb (via Nipun Vinayak, DS, GOI).. So if things gets serious in some other state/city couple of days/weeks from now then the authorities will be blamed again for not doing anything ( And the easiest way to make people believe that the authorities did something is to impose lockdown)
Over 90% people dose not get any illness from this corona…
Why these people should suffer national lockdown.?
Prepare beds and oxygen for serious patients…increase vaccination…
And don’t do national lockdown.
Lockdown is no solution at all…
I don’t agree with you. Health situation is worsening day by day & the only last resort is put nation lockdown. I know economy will be impacted negatively by this & poor like daily wage workers will be affected but economy is not precious than lives. Economy can be recovered but what about lives. ppl are dying like animals every day.
Vaccine should be commercialized should be available in private clinics as our system is very slow it can years to vaccinate ppl. My two neighbors aged 45+ have wait almost 5 hours in queue to get vaccinated.
Special weed made from horse dung of vaccine makers .
Don’t know what they are smoking … why aren’t they allowing pfizer to start their vaccination program in India .
Instead forcing bhagwaan bharosey vaccine .
What is happening in Maharashtra even after lockdown? The cases have reduced in proportion to the reduced number of tests. The % remains almost the same
And people? People don’t care. People are going to Lonavla/Pune/Goa for vaccations, so many weddings happening. Nobody is bothered.
Till something doesn’t happen to you or your family, people don’t realise the importance of staying at home.
This state level thing isn’t really successful in India.
We need centralized control, and the whole country should go into lockdown at the same time, cancel the weddings and other functions rather than putting restrictions on number of attendees.
I am no expert to comment on spread of corona, but what I know from experience is that last year was really cool and calm, lesser pollution due to lockdown, no noise, complete peace
