Choosing a Mutual fund will depend on various factors like your investment objective, risk, period of investment among other factors.

Past returns should not be the only criteria to select a Mutual fund.

This year small cap funds may not do well. Keep your exposure to less than 10% in them.

You can consider a large cap index fund, a flexicap fund, a value fund and a mid cap fund

FoF are treated as debt funds for taxation. So if you bought them after 31 march 2023, you will be taxed at slab rate during redemption.

Choosing mutual fund for you is personal and it depends many of your personal situations. Hence don't go by past returns or star ratings. As a DIY investor, I use guidance from PrimeInvestor. I feel it is essential to have a guidance from Advisor/Distributor / Analyst team in place, otherwise you will make mistakes due to emotions etc.

I personally have had excellent returns with Nippon large cap, growth (mid cap) and as small cap funds. I recently earned 30k in 2 weeks 😎

I avoid Quant as I feel they are reckless in their selection.

I avoid index funds as the returns were not satisfactory ( to put it mildly)
