depends on the class, category, usage/requirement.
18-20 years back, when working on a project with this firm which was into tax filing and stuff, besides having digital signature business too.. I had taken one to try out if 100% on-line tax filing was really possible.. without ANY physical paperwork.
It worked great.
Some e-tenders or e-auctions (usually government ones) necessitate have digital signatures or else one cannot even participate in them on-line.
Generally, it can serve the same purpose as the physical signature does.
Usually for bulk requirements though.
Like if you have a payroll software or other software generating Form-16 or the salary slips for 20000 employees every month and each needs to have a signature of the authorised entity.
Okay nevermind, let me serve a more relatable example on DesiDime.
If you ever shopped on Amazon in 2016, 2017, 2018 or thereabouts and the seller was CloudTail India Private Limited.. do look up the invoice PDF/ soft copy of those orders.

My accountant got me one for 2 years validity for ₹2000 last year so maybe try check with him/her.
